Beware the delicate Maverick hybrid

I'm sure they were talking about the hybrid motor attached to the engine, or is it? The starting and stopping as needed. Same with the auto stop on the other vehicles. I hate it on mine, I hit the off button every time.

Electric motors have no issue starting and stopping. They are simple and robust.

The hybrid ICE engine does not have a traditional starter it uses the electric motor to start the engine. The start/stop on a hybrid is nothing like that of an ecoboost.

If you have any links to the expert mechanics discussing the engine failure issues I'd be interested in reading up on it.

I know how it works, I'm sure they were talking about the switching back and forth and around town the gas engine doesn't run, but when it does maybe for a short sprint, it craetes heat and then shuts down when the hybrid starts, shutting down and starting cooling and heating, they have seen some problems, I'm sure it might be the way they were treated and not serviced well. ???

As for the EB, common sense will tell you it has to cause starter problems over time if you drive around town a lot and the motor shutting and restarting at every light is bound to be hard on the starter eventually!

Horse and buggy people couldn't believe that folks wanted to drive around with a large tank of flammable/explosive gasoline.
Especially when it was mounted underneath the seat.
I guess it the same with batteries now.

Still not under the seat!! I remember some models back then had problems catching fire from rear end collisions. I remember one was the ford Pinto.

I'm not sure I can find the articles, it was last year when I was doing my research on the maverick. I was thinking about selling or trading my 2022 F150 Lariat because it was hard for my wife recovering from cancer to pull herself up to get in, plus I don't toe a big RV now.

I would expect it would be a few hundred to have software checked out after you installed the new radiator. What about the bolts that had to be removed to replace. Were any of them one time use? When my 22 hybrid had driver's side rear fender was replaced the gas filler had to be removed to be installed in new fender. The bolts are one timmers and Ford does not sell them individually so body shop had to purchase the "Assembly" which was something like $250-$300 don't remember. It also cost $125 to check the rim to see if it was still in specs. The initial insurance estimate was $5800.00. after all the unseen the total was $12,722.28. plus 7 weeks car rental. Plus $2140.00 from at fault drivers insurance for Diminished value. Something was bent and had to be welded which required bedliner to be resprayed = flatbed tow both ways to approved sprayer $750.00 which included body shop markup plus $695 for the respray.

No, I wouldn't have to get the software checked after putting a new factory spec radiator on my 2025 Ecoboost, and all hardware should be reusable, with the possible exception of the hose clamps ($5 at most).

These repair quotes you guys are posting are absolutely insane.

It does. On MY2024 Ford removed two of the shutter blades as a standard practice. (1 above bumper, 1 below the bumper) So it's not just the hybrid that had a few of the blades removed. This can be seen on my MY2024 EcoBost.

Anyone who's worried about engine wear on the hybrid due to stop/start cycles can run it in sport mode which will keep the ICE running most of the time and you'll still get 10mpg more than the ecoboost.

I should have explained myself better, I'm sure the EB could have been damaged as well from being hit, I was referring to what some expert mechanics are saying, they are seeing problems with the gas engine caused by the battery switching back and forth. I chose the EB for my 2024 Lariat; I don't like the idea of riding around with a large battery sitting underneath me. Just me, we are individuals and have different likes and opinions, Right?

Batteries certainly have their issues (waiting for my PIxel 6a fire bomb to be fixed...), but gasoline has it's own properties...and there is a tank of it beneath all of us?

There is no real issue with the constant start stop from a good hybrid system either. People laughed at the Prius when it came out, and mechanics blasted it too as overly complicated...same ones that drive one now because they don't want to fix their own car, and it's the cheapest per mile to operate A to B.

I've never seen a car or truck with the gas tank mounted underneath the seat.

My old honda fit have the gas tank bellow the front seats, in the middle to be more specific, I think most of the fits are like this.

Scotty is one I watched his video, but he was not the ones that made my mind up about the hybrids. I'm sure if you went online and ask the public about them, you will find plenty of mechanics and general people that don't want a hybrid. I've never had a gas tank blow up or catch fire, but I've read where a lot of Batteries have exploded.
