I was backing out if the driveway and saw that my garbage can had not been put up. Put the truck in park and got out to put the garbage can in the garage. When I went to get back in my truck (2024 XLT Hybrid) the door was locked with my key in the ignition snd the engine running.

I had to use the Ford Pass app on my phone to unlock the truck to get back in. I was lucky. The phone was in my back pocket. I usually place it in a phone holder and use Car Play to listen to Sirius XM Radio.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks, Sam

Exactly that.

And the several threads on this matter made me realize I could not confirm or deny if I hit the lock button on opening the door.

Try a test, not running just in On mode, when not rushed and purposely be careful not to hit the lock button right there by the handle when opening door.

Now you'll see.

Here's another test for you since you have XLT.
With key fob with you - lock doors by means of door lock button and shut door.
According to manual the Passive Security is enabled, but the Anti-Theft system requires locking with the fob. Walk away a good distance and then come back.
Now open door with key in fob.
Does your screen say turn car On quickly or alarm will go off?

Only the driver side door locks, the other 3 are still open
RE: Only the driver's door locks - if we are talking about the same thing, I determined in my case it was user error.

When I reached for the unlock lever on the driver's door, I rolled my left hand to the right and inadvertently hit the lock lever just above. It didn't take much pressure but the driver's door was locked and the others were unlocked. I did a test on the passenger side and the same thing can happen. Therefore, user error.

I have had it happen only once. The other three doors were still unlocked.

It’s happened to me in my ‘24 XL a couple of times. I think the manual locking mechanism is easily triggered. I did find the other doors were not locked. It may be different for Lariat with the keyless ignition.

I'll do you one better, got out of my 2024 hybrid maverick which was running to check tie downs in truck bed and left door cracked, had a breeze shut the door and all 4 doors locked with wallet/phone laying on passenger seat, haven't memorized a phone # in years so had to go back in to hardware store and see if anyone knew of locksmith, 30 minutes later one arrived and $50 lighter he unlocked the door (at least i had the a/c on) but I do Not want to unlock the car doors unless I unlock them myself !!

I've had several occurrences where I found the doors locked when I tried to enter. But yesterday I had an unexpected locking incident when I exited the Mav with the keys in the cup holder. If I set the lock and exit that way the doors will unlock. This happened when I got out with the doors unlocked. Something is not right.

Another problem I have is if I shut the driver's door too lightly and it latches but doesn't shut it will set the locks and I have to use the button on the fob to unlock them.

YES....he is talking about the same thing....and YES...only the driver's door will be locked because you only "Hit" the manual lock "Lever" on the driver's door with your left hand when you got out. Next time just go around and open the passenger door and hit the unlick "button" with the little unlock picture.

...and apparently I did it - rolled my hand and hit the manual lock lever- yet again today. And as KenV24 wrote, I walked around to the passenger side, used the door handle to open that door and hit the unlock button for the electric locks. Only the driver's door "clicked" open. So USER ERROR on my part.

Yes but only thr druverside door locks because the lock button can get accidently pressed when exiting the vechile.

You’re kind of right, but technically it is not the lock “button” you were pressing, but the lock “lever”. 😎😎. Remember the electric lock/unlock buttons have the lock and unlock symbols. The manual lever doesn’t.
