The dealership may have to go back and forth with their hotline person like I did and end up installing a new compressor as well before it's all resolved.
Ok i have 2022 hybrid XLT LUX PKG with 4200 miles. Sep 9 2025 is my 36 month date. I have had all recalls and updates performed up to about last Nov (2024). Do not drive it much (use as 2nd backup) as I have 43000+ miles on my 2022 hybrid lariat loaded. I have the 7yr/125 extended w on the lariat. I am going to take the XLT in and have the backup camera recall applied, the SSM53801, and any others needed, if any. I might put the 7/125 ext warranty on it, need to decide soon. Since I do not drive the XLT much I put my noco g5 maintainer on the jump pins frequently. It has the original bxt99rt4a-390cca. Due to the noco the truck will charge it from 12.0v to 12.6v 24 hrs after a 28-35 mile drive. My tester only reads to 0.1v accuracy so extrapolating my readings I will say daily average is about 0.08v. do not use Ford pass so never get deep sleep warnings. I leave hood up and take readings at jump pins. So do not have power usage when unlocking or opening doors to raise hood which makes daily readings impossible due to everything firing up. I swear I have gotten readings one day after driving of 12.6v then 24 hrs later 13.1v then next day of 12.8v then next day 12.6 (without Noco but voltages imply that truck may be trickle charging the 12v??? or maybe battery is just settling around). Just went and checked jump pins. Took noco off two days ago on about day five charging eas running optimization still but I needed noco for mower. So three days after charging but before optimization was complete the 34 month OEM 390 read 12.9v. (in about two weeks sitting it will be 12.0v).
I see where Ford says these batteries are "enhanced" I charge both the 390cca and the MAX series 470cca as standard sli batteries.

Did they replace it with an AGM battery?
No. They replaced like-for-like (non-AGM). But if the update fixed the parasitic draw issue, I should be good to go now... right? :D STILL not holding my breath.

I guess you will have to see if it works for you. Keep us informed.

Did anyone's dealer have issues with performing this update?
I brought my 23 Lariat Hybrid in to a Ford dealership body shop for hail damage and cracked windshield, when they were doing the final inspection they noticed the dome light was stuck on. They tested the battery and it was 0v. When they called me about it, I mentioned this SSM number since its related to battery drain. They replaced the battery and have been trying to install the update for almost a week and said it's been failing at like 83%-84%. They escalated it to Ford, but wanted to check if anyone else encountered this.

They had to apply the SSM 3 times on mine before it took. I've also seem some prople having to get a new a/c pump because the update bricked it and they could not recover. I think I saw somewhere that unlike the other updates, this one requires the vehicle to be running. I suspect that the problem is a mechanic who did not follow the service instructions line-by-line.

I just finished one yesterday. I had bricked two ACCM's. When I contacted Ford for answers, they mentioned that they had a few with the same issue. Engineering tweaked the software a couple of times. When it would not bring the compressor module back to life they authorized me to install another compressor. This one programmed without a hitch . I asked the hotline guy if it was safe to allow my other customers who were having the same problem to bring theirs in. He indicated that it is safe to do so because the last tweaking of the software solved the problem with it bricking the module. He then asked me to describe in detail all the things I did to that particular vehicle because I believe my vehicle was one of the guinea pigs. Anyway, it is now safe to program the modules. However, the facility needs to make certain that they have the latest update on their computer. Also the instructions for programming this module differs from that of every other module. This module is actually programmed with the engine running whereas other modules are programmed with the engine off.
Hi Darryl, ‘22 Maverick hybrid owner here that had the ACCM fail when update was performed. The dealer contacted Ford tech and they denied covering the cost to replace the module. I am curious as to why you had to replace the compressor to repair the vehicle. Is the module part of the compressor?

Guess what I got a few days ago...

Ford Maverick SSM 53801: 2022-2025 Maverick Hybrid 12V Battery Drain Issue Update Fix Released! 1752074853940-rq

But... I was installing a new subwoofer, had the battery disconnected, then connected, with doors open/closed, stereo on/off for the better part of the day. So I can't be sure all my messing around in the driveway caused this or if the SSM 53801 update failed to fix the parasitic draw.

I'll continue to watch, wait, report.

Got my truck back. Ford corporate apporved a battery replacement at no cost to me. Dealer was cagey when I asked for details of the fix, he just said they reset all the modules and replaced the battery and let it sit for a long weekend, and the truck did not throw a battery warning.

Of course, you and I know this is "fixed" because they replaced the battery. It will be months before I know if the issue is truly fixed, and I am out of warranty. I plan to pull the telecomm fuse, hopefully my dome lights work until I sell this truck to fund my Slate in a couple years.

I pulled my fuse about 4 weeks ago and my dome lights have yet to NOT come on. Before my Mav couldn't sit 24 hours. No doubt the battery is just too small for the amount of drain that is on it when just sitting there for a few days. And of course when flooded lead acid batteries get drained low the life is shortened a lot.

All that work is doing nothing but draining the 12V battery when connected - so sure it seems you can expect this result.
At least a new battery - you might want to think about charging it up since it's already lost a lot of it's charge, probably down to 50% SOC, doubtful it reached 9.5V at least.
After charge up - make sure locked for 8 hrs for BMS relearn process.

Did you actually have a parasitic draw that drained your battery in a day or two in the 1st place?
Or just the normal issue of low battery charge?

Considering deep sleep turns off the TCU, and you got a new ACCM upgrade, there's still a whole bunch of modules to cause a parasitic draw.
The manual for EB calls out shutting down misbehaving modules, not sure why the hybrid doesn't also. Maybe it does, just forgot to include language in manual.

Just the normal issue of low battery charge / deep-sleep notifications. Like others, the truck has never failed to start & run. I did throw a slow charge on the battery after I got the notification, did the BMS reset (plus it then sat >8h overnight)... and all good again. Plus I thump down the road with my new sub :D. [I can't believe how terrible the non-B&O base stereo is... but that's a different thread].

Right??? The loaner I had was an EB Maverick XL and the stereo was straight garbage. The B&O is so much better, makes me glad I opted for it. I'm no stranger to installing new headunits and replacement door speakers/sub, but I imagine that was a lot easier on a 2004 Frontier and 2000 Cherokee compared to a more modern car . Plus I ain't got time for that these days!

Well it’s been 2 weeks, they cannot get it to program. They replaced the gateway module due to a connection loss issue but that did not fix it. Honestly, I didn’t think that would fix it because they’ve done numerous other software updates without issues.

They are escalating it to a Ford engineer, I think it’s going down a path of them replacing the compressor/module for the air conditioning.

At least I’m in a loaner, but I am a little bit frustrated with how long this is taking.

Yes. They will probably end up doing just that. They went back and forth with me as well and ultimately ended up replacing the compressor. Once I got the new compressor and followed their instructions to the letter. It went without a hitch. I programmed another one today. I held my breath the entire time. It went well.

Darryl, do you know if Ford has published the latest details of the compressor replacement/reprogram to all other dealerships? Who did you contact at Ford to get tech assistance? I am not sure if my dealer is getting the current info to repair my Maverick after the update failed. Thanks for all of your knowledge that you pass along
