Is there any way to confirm if my truck has this update? My dealer is not helping. I've had the battery replaced once and of course it has not fixed it.
You would have had to take it in since mid-May that an upgrade was available.
Have you done so?

You would have had to declare it has battery issues, and they would have told you they did the upgrade in the work order.
Have you received that?

There is no remote update possible, if you are thinking it happened without you knowing.

if you have a hybrid that was manufactured from 2022 up to February 17, 2025 the fix applies. When the dealer enters your vin and the symptom, the SSM should show as a possible solution. I recommend simply asking them to perform SSM 53801 if he says he doesn't know what you're talking about, he simply needs to look it up or have one of his techs look it up.

No, I am not asking if it was done remotely or can be done remotely.

Yes, I have taken it in. They are not telling me if they even looked for updates. Just that the battery is ok, which it is because its been replaced. Doesn't mean the issue has gone away.

I was hoping there was some way I could find out without going through them if the update is even applicable to my VIN.,

The SSM was released in the middle of May, and was not generally available to the dealers for a couple of weeks after that. So, unless you had it in for a battery within the last 3 weeks, then no you do not have the a/c power leak fix. If you did have it in over the last 3 weeks, then you may have it, depending on how clueless your dealer is.

I just picked it up today from them. They won't tell me a thing about the SSM.

If battery checked out OK - then no it wasn't done. Highly likely wasn't done.

Unless you had a record of the ongoing issue of low battery effects, and a nice dealer, and told them you think the SSM applied - no.

If your truck was made from the first Maverick hybrid to before around February of this year, it's covered under the special service bulletin

Until the battery Failed a test - no, going earlier to document there was an issue wouldn't have mattered to getting a new battery under warranty.
Has to Fail, and it took rather long compared to many!

Getting the recall for the negative battery harness - yes that should have been done way back as soon as you saw battery problems.
I think you are right regarding Ford not being willing to replace it. Anytime I checked it it was between 11.3v and 11.7v, that can't be good for it. Since it continued to pass, the dealer would not replaced it.

I called Ford corporate and, after a long wait (weeks) with a lot of back and forth, I got them to agree to cover the cost of replacement under warranty. At first they wanted me to pay $100, but couldn't really answer why I'd have to pay since this should be covered under bumper to bumper.

My truck wasn't included in the battery cable recall. Besides, I thought it didn't work for a lot of people here, the low power issue came back? I had asked about that a few times but was told it wasn't needed.

Anyways, truck is still in the shop, they have actually found an intermittent draw problem but have been unable to isolate it further than being related to the BCM / interior fuse box. They are pulling a fuse at a time and letting the truck sit to see if they draw happens to narrow it down-- as you can imagine, that is a pretty slow process. The tech said he had did the fix for all the other service bulletins and similar reports but it did not remove the 0.1A draw.

I wonder what happens when my truck is still in the shop when the warranty expires next week.

As long as the repair order dated from BEFORE the warranty expiration date, it's still covered. My recommendation is to convince them to leave the repair order open for a few days after you take the vehicle in order to see if it's fixed. Some shops will do that for a vehicle that would run out of warranty once the repair order is closed. We've left repair orders open for a couple of weeks or more after the vehicle left the shop under those conditions. But it's up to the shop. So if they're unwilling to keep the repair order open after it leaves, then leave it at the dealership for a few days after they say it's ready in order to make sure it's fixed.

Great to hear.
This SSM almost seemed like an escape clause from Ford for techs to stop spending time tracking down reasons for the draw, so no warranty payment on the work due.
Glad they found something else.

Shoot, a low battery like that (mine is getting there), just loses a decent amount of charge overnight anyway due to the abuse, I'm glad that did not make them think that was the sole issue.

My system reports draws of 58 mA some nights, other times it's the more normal 30-35 mA for 8 hrs at work. I haven't figured out if the reported figure is the avg thru the sleep time, or a peak during the block.
And I haven't found a figure for avg or peak draw during the up to 75 min of shutdown time.
One poster found a few times their fan was running for a long time after turnoff if AC was on when it happened. Probably the reason for this SSM being for ACCM.

Hey guys! If you don't need update done at the moment, I advise you to wait. I attempted the update last week on a customer's vehicle, and it wiped out his air condition control module which is a part of the compressor. I could not recover the module. My field service engineer advised me to replace the compressor thinking that I may have had it one of a kind problem with my scan tool . I tried to contact the module programming division on Thursday, they said they had high volume. And they would call me later.. I went ahead and installed a new compressor on Friday. When I attempted to perform the module installation, it seemed to have wiped it out as well. They still had not contacted me today. So I reached out to them again, and they told me that engineering is investigating the concern because it has happened to a few other vehicles. But they don't have a solution yet. So I have a customer's vehicle in my stall with no AC and no fix. . And I have an angry customer who brought his vehicle in with no problem other than an occasional battery drain. Now he does not have his vehicle because the control module on the compressor will not accept a program and will not properly communicate after I attempt to get programmer. Again, wait if you can
Any update on this? This sounds exactly like what is happening to mine. 23 Hybrid Lariat. No problems except for battery save mode.

I took it into my local dealer to do an oil change and have the battery looked at. They tried applying SSM 53801 after testing the battery, but it “would not take the update”. Luckily I’m under warranty still and in a loaner however, I’m curious about that the resolution was.

Few more pages later of this thread gives the update.

ETA: found it quick just looking at Darryl's posts.

Thank you. Guess I should have read on. I’ll let the dealer figure it out. I’ll enjoy the 25 ecoboost Lariat loaner till then.
The dealership may have to go back and forth with their hotline person like I did and end up installing a new compressor as well before it's all resolved.
