Why the 2025 is less safe than the earlier years

I'm sure all of the 2025 owners keep both hands on the wheel at ALL times. Which explains why so many of them make turns without signalling, too unsafe to take 1 hand off the wheel.

I'm getting tired of having to smell every KY redneck rolling coal or farmers spreading manure. Struggling to shut down the AC and fan in 96°F while navigating KY roads created by drunkards and avoiding vehicles without any functional indicators nor brake lights, though somehow they could afford a 6" chrome exhaust tip and thirty murky tattoos.

Cheap a$$ Ford is trying to save a pocket full of change to afford that third shift premium at the plant in Mexico, I guess. Can you smell the class action lawsuits brewing? I can just see it now, laws requiring drivers to pull your truck over park into a parking space, turn the ignition off before you can adjust the fan speed legally.

I agree, that touch screen is VERY distracting. Putting everything on the touch screen is cheaper for the manufacturer.
On my '22 GTI, I had to go through a menu just to change the AC fan speed or temp. At least Ford has the fan speed & temperature available all the time.

Really? Try NOT looking at the screen and adjust the '25 Maverick fan speed, no cheating. Keep in mind that you could feel for a fan speed control knob in the dark without taking your eyes off of the road. Imagine the day the display unit goes out and Ford has a three month long national backorder. Oh !

What is it with this forum and the constant nag for buttons? How much time do you boomers spend fiddling with your climate controls? Set it to auto three and just tap up or down on the - symbol if you want it cooler or tap on the +symbol if you want it warmer. It ain't that complicated.

As a Mach-E owner I could not imagine if everything needed a physical control. The front dash would look like a goddamn airplane cockpit.

I test drove a 25 and a 24. I did not like the 25 screen and controls but could have adapted to it. I really didn't like the digital dash. So I bought a 24. The arguments by 2025 owners seems more to convince them of their purchase than to convince others. Many studies have shown that, even prior to 2025 Mavericks, looking away at screens in vehicles contribute to more rear end crashes. The screen in my 2014 F-150 was very small compared to the 2024 Maverick, the back up camera was shown in the rear view mirror not the screen. The screen was only for audio stations and input control, and navigation through a connected device not built in. I rarely looked away at the screen. Even with my 2024 I found I glance more at the screen to see what song is on Sirius or to look at the navigation if I am using it. I'm not saying YOUR 2025 is bad I am just saying I didn't like it and don;t really like the advent of TV screens in cars. BTW the largest screen in my home is a 50" tv. I don't need to cover a wall with a screen and I even have digital antennae attached to a 20" tv. Less tech is better in my life.

In fact, a physical control takes a couple of days to get used to on an unfamiliar vehicle. I'm not speaking of the other controls, just the climate controls. No menu scrolling, no reaching down, no looking down. just like glancing at the speedometer or gauges . I think it comes down to simple PREFERENCE. And that perfectly ok..

On my 23 Hybrid XLT when I plug my android phone in the screen goes to google maps The whole screen is just the map so on a 25 does this same thing happen which would mean the hvac controls would be gone. Or does the hvac stay on lower part of screen with google maps on too??

I see two camps here. Some say on screen hvac doesn't bother them BUT I can guarantee even if it doesn't bother you your eyes are off the road MORE ZERO doubt. It is less safe even if you are okay with that. You cant feel a screen button lol. I also have been when the sun is low I cant see the screen at all. Maybe younger people don't have that issue? I sure do. I glance at screen sometimes to see what radio station i am on. Last evening half the time driving into sun I couldn't see screen at ALL.

I will answer for myself. I look at the screen AND I look at physical controls to change the settings. I do find it easier to look at the touchscreen since I do not have to look down like I do for the physical controls. YMMV...

Screens were far worse in 2002 though, in my Chrysler Town & Country, it's roof mounted, so you had to tilt it all the way back on the hinge, and crank the drivers seat way back so you are at like 40 degrees or so, merely to watch a DVD, then you need a yard of twine tied to each side of the wheel just to be able to steer.

Have you tried the new screen? All the climate controls are at the bottom of the 2025's screen permanently displayed. Once you know where they're at it's function is much like physical controls only quicker. It's when they make you dig through screens to find them that's bad. Then there's how often do you really access those controls and the fan is the most often used. The bigger screen is actually easier to use because of the size. You no longer try to hit a small target.

A reviewer of the 2025 whined about there was no volume knob, all the while the video showed the center stack with it's volume control knob in plain sight. He just assumed. Now that's an idiot. If you haven't used the screen you really don't know no matter what you watched or read. It's by far the best touch screen I've used and Sync 4 is so much better than the previous versions. Then there's voice control. Just use it.

I strongly disagree. The key is that you are looking at the screen to push those buttons instead of the road. You're distracted. When a kid runs in front of you and you're trying to adjust something, they don't have bright brake lights on their body and you can't see them. Its an incredibly bad design decision.

That’s a really good point. All of the cars that are most prone to getting into accidents have old school manual climate controls.

While all the cars with the least number of accidents are the one with large infotainment screens and touch screen HVAC controls.

They haven't made the Dodge Dart in 9 years yet it is in the the top ten for accidents. I don;t think climate controls are the issue. Same with Scion. Maybe, just MAYBE the owners are just not GOOD drivers. I know they don't make good decisions
