I know this is sort of water over the dam as of 2025, but is it possible 0n the '22-'24 models to relocate the transmission shifter from the console to somewhere else, such as higher on the dash next to the center screen? More specifically, move the screen to the right to eliminate the cubby and place the rotary shifter (and possibly the parking brake), in the open space to the left of the relocated screen? I have never explored the insides and underside of the dash and console, but many have and could perhaps comment if this is even feasible. TIA

First couple of weeks I keep turning on the wipers.
I drive my parents when I go out a few days every month to help them out.

For the last two trips, I've managed to go the whole time without shifting into windshield wiper!

I was looking at the substantially similar one on my Escape and wondering if the knob pulled off easily, then could put a pinion gear on it, and have a quadrant rack on a T bar shifter assembly to wind it back and forth.... not sure how durable that would be, and still wouldn't have good notchy feel unless you added some spring detents or something.... still maybe risk of it getting un indexed if you slammed it too hard or something.

I understand it does nothing from a functional standpoint, aside from possibly creating a small storage space like the cubby but arranged vertically in the console. I greatly appreciate the photos of the shifter. The cubby next to the screen is a pretty obvious placeholder for something larger in the future, and Sync3 never had a larger screen in any vehicle. The rotary shifter itself doesn't bother me, but it would work equally well relocated in my opinion. Thanks

give it a try if that's what would work best for you. Folks change things around on their vehicles all the time. Different strokes for different folks. The wiring ought to be long enough to move it where you want on the dash.

I'd gladly trade the knob thing to a real shifter where you can, by feel, know what you're shifting into without having to look. And something that I wouldn't bump out of gear with the side of my leg while cruising down the freeway at 75 mph. I've had that happen 4 or 5 times.

I just returned from vacation and while cruising through Missouri at 75 mph I suddenly lost power and pulled to the right. After dropping down to 55 mph I realized my wife accidently bumped the "Knob" while reaching in the console. Poor placement IMO.

I'm ok with the position, I just would prefer a real shifter, floor or column. Or even push buttons on the dash. Anything over this dial.

You can change it to a stick but I don't think you can change the location.

But you weren't moving when you did :cwl: . I get it but I have adjusted quickly after 50 years of column or floor shifters. Could be worse could be the push button shifter of a 1956 Chrysler.
Heyyy, I liked the push button shifter.
