That would at least meet the need of software buttons, and allow engaging Park automatically when needed. And not allowing a press into R or D when moving the other direction.Sounds like a accident waiting to happen. That is a worse idea than the rotary. How about a 58 Dodge push button shifter?

I hate that dial, Fords biggest mistake, am on my second Maverick and still hate it, YES you get used to it but if I had to change one thing about the Maverick that would be it. Ford PLEASE put a real shifter with a handle in the Maverick; Ranger has one don't it, how much more could it cost?I always preferred the center shifter with 4 in an H pattern and reverse to the left and up! Works especially well with a 400 c.i., 350 hp big block in a 2-door coupe, preferably black, with the letters GTO on it! But that would take me back 55 years... Dreaming and drooling!
For my Maverick, I would prefer a little stick with PRND on it, but I guess I will take the rotary over push buttons just to differentiate between shifting and other vehicle functions.
How does that work? Looks like it could catch plenty of dust in all those recessed areas. What type of vehicle is it?How about this instead?
