Does anyone know if this is why I get the message from Ford Pass app saying it has been disabled, going into battery protect mode? Also why my passenger door doesn’t unlock with touch on my Lariat?
Battery sleep mode. Your passenger door won't open automatically. Your interior lights don't stay on, and your app won't work except to tell you it's in sleep mode. Frustrating and too common, grrrrr.

So after reading through all posts. it seems this will NOT be a recall as far as we know as of now.

I had mobile tech out just two days ago doing recall for back up camera and wiper motor check. I mentioned about 12 volt battery issue he new nothing about it. I had my 12 volt battery charger on jump points under hood so no issue doing back up cam update. He said great. BUT again new nothing of hybrid 12 volt issue.

in winter its a real problem for me not so much now in warmer days. I always have the HVAC off. I rarely use AC.

So my 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid was built before February. Would I be noticing any issues if my truck is faulty? Is this something that Ford will look at (for free) if I take it to a dealer?

Hello Gid

I have a 2025 Lariat that I picked up on 25 Jan, 2025.

Don't sweat it at this point if you haven't had any issues yet. You should have an AGM battery under your back bench seat. Take a look, if you haven't yet to reassure yourself.

Do you leave it a week or more without using it? Well, if you haven't already, go get a good quality trickle charger (Noco?) that is appropriate for AGM batteries...mine has a switch for flooded or AGM...and plug it in AFTER connecting it to the charge point and ground point under the engine bonnet. You should have one anyways, just in case you ever go on holiday, for example.

If you use it regularly where, as in all vehicles, you drive it enough to keep your battery charged, you should be fine.

There are so many battery drain threads, you can read up on them if you like as information is power, but weed out the ones that are using flooded lead acid. Read over your e-manual and make sure your spare tire is inflated properly, just an example. Lots of stuff in the manual that is good to know.

Okay, I hope this helps! And if you run into anything that might be a problem like light not coming on as usual when you open the doors, or maybe get a message your truck is having a nap, try a search here and then ask your question as that indicates a possible issue...lots of extremely knowledgeable people here that would try to help.

If you want, call your dealer that sold you the truck to check on it...maybe use the sales agent that assisted you. Just a thought.

Oh, I am going to ask when I book my first oil change when to have this checked and addressed as my plan.

And I hope I have helped you!

Andy

Thanks so much for your detailed message, Andy. I haven't had any issues, but I drive my truck every day. I've only used a trickle charger on motorcycles in the past. Didn't think they were necessary for cars. I'll check my battery to see if it's an AGM. Since I got the truck around Christmas, I've been super busy and haven't checked out the truck at all. I'm on my first road trip right now (Austin to Denver) and I haven't even checked where the spare and the jack are located. I'm sure they are an easy find. I seem to remember finding the jack behind the rear seat when I first got the truck. The truck will hit 5K on this trip, and I've got to start investigating the simple things so that I don't have to learn about them on the side of the road. Really appreciate your message! Thanks.

Drive safe, eh!

The jack pack is behind the back seat, you were correct.

The spare tire is in the normal truck spot, under the box in front of the eear bumper. The handles for the jack fit together to crank it down, so no worries there.

Always keep in mind that the tire can not be cranked down due to access issues with the tail gate down!

If your spare is like mine, it is 1.5 inches smaller in diameter...I will put a size that is going to bring it in line with my stock tires (I asked my dealer about this as I am not happy with the size difference).

If you do need to use the spare, use it like a donut spare to just get you to somewhere to get the good tire repaired/replaced. It isn't good to use it much with that size difference in my book. (I was planning on starting a thread question on this, so this beat me to it.)

I would suggest that when you finish your trip, to do your oil change at your earliest convenience, as it is break in oil, small filter and time to put the recommended 0w20 full synthetic into it and enjoy the great fuel mileage these trucks get!

Again, drive safe,

Andy

Thanks again, Andy. And yeah, after reading all the threads on first oil changes, I had the dealer put in full synthetic 0w20 at <4K. Glad I did this before all of this 70+ mph driving that I'm doing right now! I've always done regular 5K changes w/ full synthetic in my vehicles and have always been able to drive lots of miles w/o engine issues. I get peace of mind w/ 5k changes even though people tell me that's excessive. Cheers!

Where do you see what date your Maverick was built ?
Window sticker if you kept it, or the door jamb will give month and year.

SSM 53801 2022-2025 Maverick - Hybrid - 12V Battery Drain - Built On Or Before 17-Feb-2025
Some 2022-2025 Maverick vehicles with a hybrid powertrain and built on or before 17-Feb-2025 may exhibit a 12V battery drain. This may be due to the software installed in the air conditioning control module (ACCM). To correct this condition, perform a battery condition test as outlined in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables > Diagnosis and Testing > Pinpoint Test A. Service the battery as necessary. Connect a battery charger such as Rotunda GRX-3590 or DCA-8000 to the 12-volt battery. Download and run the "air conditioning control module (ACCM) software update" application in the Ford Diagnosis And Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. If the battery was replaced, download and run the "BCM-reset the battery monitoring sensor learned values" application in FDRS. For claiming, use causal part 19703 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
They have coded the causal part number to the a/c compressor, so it will be covered 3/36, and I already checked and it is covered under Ford Premium ESP also...(not sure about the other level contracts)
Will we be getting a service letter from our local dealers regarding this or do I just go to my dealership and ask to have it done?

I used to own a brand new 2022 EV in Canada. The U.S. models had 12V battery drain issues. It didn't show its ugly head immediately in Canada (probably due to less vehicles). This brings to light two issues:
1. 12V battery drains are issues with many manufacturers, both EVs & hybrids
2. Multiple "fixes" were done over the years, thinking the issue was resolved ... until it wasn't. i.e. the supposed fix didn't actually help

It's always a wise idea to hold off a touch to see what the end result is. If this SSM fixes it - great. If not, Ford goes back to the drawing board.

My 2025 Maverick Lariat has been built this week and hope I won't have this issue, but until I know for sure, I will devise a way to access the 12V battery (should it die and not open the doors) and carry a LFP booster pack.

Cheers,
Steve
A plug in the fender badge for your booster pack is one way

Just wanted to say thanks for the info on the SSM I brought my Maverick into the dealer Friday for a 10,000 mile check up and a couple minor things and talked about the sleep mode issue which he said they pushed back to the third quarter now. I got home. I went on the Internet and I saw the post about the SSM that just come out that morning. I got on the phone with the dealer to inform him of it. They did not know about it.Went Friday afternoon to pick it up and he said they couldn’t do the SSM because they didn’t have the updates until Monday and wanted me to leave it. I couldn’t do that so he said it would set up a road service for me on Wednesday. Hopefully that fixes the problem so I just wanted to say thanks again for the post.

With our dry weather I've been riding the bike a lot and haven't used the Maverick in over a week so when there was this dust storm and rain threat I took the Maverick last night to see some music.
Was prepared for an issue but ran perfect. Voltmeter showed no change. Relived. Wonder how long I can let it sit?

How long? A tough question i would guess. Depends on the battery...how old is it, how many times has it been deeply discharged, what is the oat (outside air temp), as if it is cold, that affects it's ability to provide power....many variables.

AGM and other batteries other than li I do not want to discharge below 50 percent as these are considered deep discharges. And thusly, shortens it's life. It damages/warps the lead internal plates that store energy.

From what I understand the 12 volt battery acts like what I refer to as a "kicker battery...an rv term" or power source. It provides the energy to make the necessary initial electronic connections to then "wake everything else up" and enable your larger drive battery to start your vehicle via youe e-cvt. 12 volt for your door locks, internal lighting, etc.

My rule for what it is worth, is 7 days. Either I plug it in or go run some errands at that point.

I hope this has helped with your query, and others with more knowledge may chime in to correct anything I am mistaken on...and then I learn a bit more without doing it the hard way.

Cheers

Andy

It's disappointing Ford didn't make this the free CSP it should be.

What are you all paying for the update?

Even though it's probably 5 minutes of work, I'd expect my local stealership to try charging $200+.

This is big news and super exciting!!
I've heard some horror stories about software recalls making other things worse. Since my truck is still new, I'm probably going to wait another six months to ensure it doesn't have other side effects. However, this is a relieving find!
I pray to all the gods this resolves the deep sleep issue once and for all.
