Hybrids get a pressurized fuel tank to preserve fuel quality due to their increased efficiency/slower fuel consumption. The electronic release ensures that the pressure is released before the fuel door opens. It's less of a lockand more of an automatic depressurization. EB has no such concerns.
Interesting.. I didn't know that. Rats... now I have something else to research and learn... Why the fuel delivery of the hybrid requires pressurized fuel storage, and conversely why it was decided the Ecoboost wouldn't benefit from the same work (or to the extent that it wasnt' worth the extra spend).Hybrids have a pressurized gas tank, so they require a locking gas door to function. Ecoboosts don't, so they don't have a locking gas door to save money.
