2025 Hybrid Lariat. At ~1000 miles, first two fill-ups calculated to 37.08 and 37.91 mpg in mixed driving, with about half of the distance on each tank on the highway, and the other half in-town. I didn't pay attention to what the truck was indicating for MPG, these numbers were calculated based on odometer and gallons to fill. So that's just a bit above EPA for combined, so I'm a really happy camper after my previous truck would probably average about 20 in similar driving.

OMG. What wrong with my 2022 hybrid maverick. My wife gets 5-6 mpg LESS THAN I DO!
my father would probably reply, "the nut holding the wheel."

But I would never suggest such a thing . . .

My terminology would be "There is a NUT loose on the wheel". Note that a nut is by definition "female" in that it is threaded on the inside. A nut threaded on the outside is a male nut aka a bolt with a hole drilled through it. So actually I don't know which gender of nut is holding the wheel on or it might even be bolted on. So I will go with your father being correct!

Just picked my Maverick Thursday with 42 miles on it and now have 311 miles.
I haven’t done much hard accelerations but I have gotten up there in mph. Started using eco mode and ev coach today and did a trip of about 130 miles round trip and the displayed mpg is showing 41.4 mpg.
I know that the displayed mpg is usually a little bit off, but I’m very happy with the displayed number considering that the engine isn’t even broken in and I’m still learning how to beat drive for good mpg.
After I do my first fill up, I can start actual calculated mpg.
All in all, I’m getting better mileage from the Maverick than I got with my tiny Fiesta!!

I am happy with the gas mileage. I am NOT happy with how far off the dash indicated MPG has been. I don't expect exact but 10-15% overestimated is just sloppy. BTW. The specs list the fuel tank capacity as 13.8 gallons. I have exceeded that twice.

I was hoping a little better FE out of the AWD Hybrid, was considering a purchase although dont need a AWD any vehicle. I have never owned a 4wd or AWD, but i have worked on my share of them. I own Street trucks, F150 ECO and Hybrid 2wd, VW Jetta 1.9 diesel.

I think I have mastered the FE on any vehicle, as i have been pulling down 800mpt on mine hybrid 2wd and looking for a 900mpt.

My F150 ECO with large tank is good for over 900mpt as well, looking for a 1K mpt.

I own a 1.9 TDI Jetta Mark 5 that will pull down 53mpg on a road trip, here again a 800mpt 14g.

I see some have pulled down 50mpg with AWD(respectable), I believe its just a matter of time before the big numbers come out. FE is directly connected to driving style. I learned exactly what it takes to get 60mpg. Its not for everyone.

13.8 is what the computer uses to estimate your "safe" range. The physical volume of the tank is 16.5 gallons for 2022-2024. I doubt it has changed for 2025.

13.8 x most recent 200 miles fuel economy x gauge % = range to "empty". But as you have discovered "empty" is an imaginary point based on 13.8 gallons burned.

MPG in reality and on the dash will usually "settle" into about 5% to 6% high.
You can adjust the math the dashboard computer uses. Look up AFE and engineering test mode.

So far I've simply evaluated it this way. My old rust bucket routinely was at say 22 mpg commuting. Detour every Tues to cheap gas. Maybe 250mi a week. Now, I just don't recall the last time I got gas. I think since I picked it up in Jan, maybe 5 trips to the pump. I like that. The exact number is no really important although I have kept track of the fillups just to have a good idea over time.

Drove my 2024 Hybrid maverick 200 miles today It has 950 miles on it now. Drove most of it at 80mph. I got a average of 34.8mpg.
Is this normal for a hybrid with under 1k miles?
I filled up my 2024 Maverick 2.5 Hybrid yesterday, 584 miles on 12.46 gallons, 46.869 mpg!!! The best mileage since I’ve had it bought it in August 2024. Finally got to know how to drive my hybrid!

you don’t have a 2025 it is not the same.
At highway speeds the AWD switches to effectively front wheel drive, so yeah -- it's pretty much the same. Check the EPA ratings.

Driving over 70 miles per hour tanks your mpg, and certain wind and road conditions make it worse (as do whether or not you're running heat).

They did not make significant drive train changes to the hybrid.

Yes, yes they did. The HF55, gear ratios, and AWD are significant drivetrain changes for the hybrid. The 2025 is not the same as a 22-24.

The AWD system only engages when required. At highway speeds on dry roads, there is no significant difference in the part of the drive train being used as the rear wheels don't engage.

Helps that it's getting warmer out too.
