  1. Roof rack recommendations?

Wow, three bills now for the budget rack. I will probably put one on the wife's Subaru instead for $70 bucks. I guess side rails for a truck just aren't a thing.
  2. Neutral tow mode - HELP!

lol, this reminds me of one of my first stops for gas with the new '25. First time my wife is driving since she needed to borrow it the next day, but I had the credit card, plus we're still figuring out the where all the buttons are to open the gas door. I get out the passenger side. Car would...
  3. Adding Bed Tie-Downs to 2025 XL -- DIY Instructions Writeup

While I likely will do this, adding the bed rail is probably more suited to my initial needs. Bikes and taller things like furniture come to mind. I see some kits on Amazon for the bed rail but a search here hasn't led me to anything useful yet. Those holes are actually threaded and ready to go...
  4. OEM Oil Recommendations for Hybrid 2.5?

I 2nd the motion. There's some actual engineering behind the owners manual.
  5. April 2025 - Maverick Sales & Production: 20,183 Sold / 16,027 Produced!

There are still lots of '24's out there, but when I was trying to get my hybrid last year you had to order them. Its too bad the sales data doesn't break that out. Even now, ICE outnumbers the hybrid maybe 8:1 and a lot of those are 24's still on the lot.
  6. Saying goodbye to my Mav. The good, the bad and the ugly of upgrading from a Maverick

These are out choices. I was coming from a Mini Van so the Mav checked every need as I no longer needed 8 seats, but certainly still needed to visit Home Depot, a lot. Wish I had it two years earlier for that purpose. Then there's my close friends , ready to buy a camper and take off. Probably...
  7. Ford raised the Maverick price again [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

Why worry, Jeff Bezo's will just take all of Ford's business with his new EV pickups. He's starting with the ultimate base model. 2 seats, minimal electronics, barebones range, no radio. Then again, maybe not. We like our crew cabs, 600+ miles per tank on the hybrids, off road capability...
  8. Hybrid fuel mpg

So far I've simply evaluated it this way. My old rust bucket routinely was at say 22 mpg commuting. Detour every Tues to cheap gas. Maybe 250mi a week. Now, I just don't recall the last time I got gas. I think since I picked it up in Jan, maybe 5 trips to the pump. I like that. The exact...
  9. Hybrid fuel mpg

I agree. After a few weeks of tinkering with my commute I found definite sweet spots where I could go all electric by just making small changes. A few days there was construction and I'd usually be annoyed, but that just made for more electric miles. Today I managed to baby it from the gas...
  10. Hybrid fuel mpg

Got mine in mid Jan. Winters are always hard on mileage anyway. My commute has been my guide. Early on I was happy with the new ride, but since the display tells you every time you stop, I was not entirely thrilled with 38mpg to work. Patience...... Basically its 15 miles out and back. Not...
  11. Two weeks into a 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid - Long Owner's Review

Generally , those who have Fords version(s) of adaptive cruise, what do you think. I only have an XL and "lane keeping" is a joke. Cruise is just old style cruise. All I wanted/needed. Does the ford version of adaptive cruise also steer. My wife has a new Subaru Forester and on the interstate...
  12. Hood paint rubbed off from wiper

I found this today after washing my new Mav for the 1st time (1st really warm day this year) and seeing that the wipers don't clear the hood. said hmmm, Lots of comments , but mostly its YMMMV. The wife's brand new Subaru allows the wipers to be lifted if you wanted, but she gets the garage...
  13. Around town mpg: 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD

A quick read as my first extended road trip is this weekend and curious what highway driving will look like. To be fair, I'm coming from my end of life minivan which was generally 22mpg around town and the road trips maybe 26. Picked up the Mav in Jan, super cold out, needs to warm up on the...
  14. Yossarian's two mode highway test

My first extended road trip will be this weekend. A well characterized trip to the inlaws that with the age old minivan was 26 mpg out and 25.5 back due to the rolling terrain. I am very curious to see how the truck does in comparison. Oddly , the Mav is almost the identical dimensions as a...
  15. Dec 29 Best $150 amazon Maverick soft truck bed cover?

I went with the Autosaver88 (updated the profile pic with it installed) and added a rubberized bed mat and tailgate mat. So far so good. The cover overall was better than I expected. Decent stitching, nice weight to the material. The install hardware is where they save a few bucks, but you...
  16. Undercarriage washer

Its all about how much water you can get up into the machinery. Big puddles, I've certainly done that in the spring when the road is flooded with a couple of inches and I could certainly see the sprinkler for the Mav since its up a bit higher than most cars. I may just get an extra wand for...
  17. 8 Problems with the Ford Maverick

The internet has made the entire planet stupider over the last 25 years. There is a market and FORD seemed to have hit a home run with this particular offering. Complaining just to complain is just like being able to post just to post, and so on. I'll stop now, my brain hurts.
  18. Lost Key and Spare is 4 hours away

I get it, but like any key its there, just missing. I spend a "wonderful" afternoon once on vacation hunting for the key fob of the rental. We were getting stuff out of the rear and it fell into the 'new to me' machinery. Only took 20min or so, but serious angst until I saw it. A black key...
  19. = $17.33 a gallon? Whoa, Nellie!

Interesting give an take. The answer to the original question is that its a biased article, and not the first by any margin. Whether its mpg equivalent or carbon footprint, quite literally, your mileage may vary. The grid you're on to the apartment you live in. Recently I was in Phoenix. All...
  20. Need a warm(er) day to install new toys

Made it to 33degrees. Felt like spring relative to recent weather. Water drops were freezing on the windshield by the time I went inside. Could still maybe adjust the alignment a bit, but it went together quite nicely for a budget cover. There's a bed mat and tailgate cover under there to...
