I really wanted to love this.
I am the person who always leaves their windows "open a crack" and I've wanted something like this for a long time.

It looks really nice. I got positive comments hour one on day one.
It can also act as a side sun visor. I do not think rain will come in. And it has a bug screen.

Only low to mediocre air flow. Falls under "some is better than none" category. Parked all day in full sunlight at 60°F ambient at 4pm, was 90°F inside the truck. (With a vent on both sides, they come in a pair.) It's an Alto Blue truck. Which lets face it, it's black. But still pretty warm on a cool day.

Worst: very VERY noisy at 35 mph and above. Unfit for use at speeds above about 35 mph. It won't fall out. But. The screen hums, whistles, vibrates something terrible at highway speeds. I do not have a dB meter. But normally I listen to AM news radio with volume at 11 at 70 mph. With the vents I had to turn the radio to 14 to hear the news talk. (XLT radio 2022)

I will use it only while parked. Which means I won't use it every day or over a long term. I had hoped to leave it in for 6-8 months a year. Nope. Won't be doing that.

In brief, I have mixed feelings.
I like it just barely enough not to return it. The look is making me keep it.

UPDATE June 10, 2025.
I will no longer be using these unless there is a specific use case and I'm lowering my initial rating.

After 12 to 15 inserts and removals they have damaged the truck window's rubber weatherstripping.
I hope not badly enough to allow water in but it's now the dry season for me. I guess I'll find out at the next high pressure car wash.

Can you remove the mesh screens and see how the do? If you leave your windows cracked anyway, you aren't any worse off for insect intrusion than you were before. I estimated the equivalent area of rolling down the window, and it's just about enough to fit your fingers in. So not much actual surface area to allow air movement. With it being slightly more restricted by the screen it's likely a bit less than that.

Sadly, that's about what I figured.
I've made laser cut versions of these for previous cars and unless the holes are pretty big they usually whistle like a son of a gun. I may make a set at work if I ever find time but the holes would probably need to be about 2-3" in diameter to not screech and whistle.

i was thinking about fabbing some up with naca ducts going outward. hoping to promote some airflow inside the cabin but without the wind buffeting you get with the windows cracked.

In my experience, that's what the Mabett vents do. I don't experience buffeting with them even at highway speeds. Mine don't whistle either, they just sound like high speed wind through a screen.

Clever idea and something I would consider - BUT - thanks for the writeup! The opening gap seems wider than it needs to be. I might be less prone to rattling and whistling if it were not as tall so there is less opportunity for flexing in the panel.

It was the wind noise that caused me to return them. If I need air flow I can lower the rear windows if it gets too noisy I can roll em up. Couldn't do that with the vents, had to pull over and take them out . Big PITA

I'm unsure why the OP's experience is so different from mine, but mine don't rattle or vibrate at all. They're plenty stiff when in place. I'll take the noise from these over the buffeting noises from partially open rear windows on the Maverick any day.

Not "really" a whistle. But hard to describe. A roar. A whoosh. A vibration. A buzz. A kazoo?

More than anticipated. A lot more. Hard for any reasonable person with reasonably good hearing to tolerate. But I will use them when parked in the summer.

They do have limited use cases, and they fit mine well. They work great for venting the windows with dogs in the back seat around town, off-roading, camping, parking etc. I didn't buy them for cruising on the highway and don't use them for that but while they're noisy at those speeds, they don't vibrate and don't buffet.

They're not perfect for everyone. They're not something you'll put in the window frames and leave them there for all occasions. So, if that's what you're thinking you'll be disappointed.

Your cell phone can be used as a
dB meter.

Even a light meter. It isn't the greatest but it's better than nothing.
