I decided to make the left side underneath similar to what Ford did on the right side. I made it with HDPE .100 without any drilling into the truck. I did make a small mod to the exhaust tip. Now that everything fits I could make it in two pieces instead of three. That will be another day. The heating, bending, and cooling were the time consumers

Great job. With a little tweaking, you could probably sell a kit, if you kept it under $100. I have the Mabett version sitting on my kitchen floor waiting for spring so I can finally install it. And I need to get some replacement hardware that doesn't rust. 😬

nice work, however, I'm fairly confident your exhaust tip will melt the plastic near it.

Very nice write up and photos. The material you used seems perfect for this application.

You did a nice job, but What's the reason for covering up? I think I missed that thread. And where did you buy the HDPE panels?

it'll just melt away the portion that may be too close. R&D at it's finest.
yep just a minor cosmetic issue. people don't look under there, anyway.

Avoid corrosion in winter climates where road salt is used.

Thanks all. The panel is HDPE .100"X 24" X 36" and got at Menards. I'll be watching the exhaust temp and its effect.

Nice clean job!

Supposedly HDPE can take 175 degree heat spikes without losing it's shape and won't fully melt until about 225 degrees. It might get a bit toasty, but probably only while at a standstill.

Would you be willing to post your .STL files on Thingiverse?

That will do nothing to avoid corrosion due to road salt in the North. They lay so much if it it turns into dust and hangs in the air and will find its way into every crevasse imaginable. The underside of my 2025 Maverick looks a decade old already.

And I fluid filmed within 24 hours of bringing her home.

What is Ford hiding up in there? They are protecting something from water, mud, slush. Must be there for a reason.
