So, finally happened to me on an April 18 2022 build date XLT Hybrid
Drove a little over 500kms on Saturday, concluding with the arrival back home at 11:36PM
At 2:53AM i got a deep sleep notification.
Already had 96k kms service booked in for Monday, (today) in addition to the backup camera recall.
Upon arrival this morning, asked them to have a look at the battery due to this.
Got a call on my lunch that it would be in the sum of $500 CAD repair, and that they would replace the battery "with the same".
After grumbling, the service guy on the phone said he cannot "confirm nor deny if the battery going in is one that is known to be defective".
Turns out, it was not in fact the same (thankfully) and it appears to be the battery from 2025s that has gone in. Motorcraft BAGM H4 S60-Y is what it lists on the service detailed invoice.
I was a little miffed this was not covered under the electrical drive components warranty but apparently that is "high voltage components only"
Anyway, this is the 1500th dollar I've put in in 3 years of ownership that was not directly related to standard maintenance. Doesn't seem too bad to me. Brakes around 85k kms and battery at 96k kms. Battery less than ideal but at least it is now an AGM battery that is in there. They told me it has a 2 year warranty on the work completed and if ford does in fact issue a recall for this work, I'll very likely be compensated.
