Seems like the tow dolly has less wear on your tires.

I have used a tow dolly a couple of times but never behind an RV. My only experience w/ them in the RV world has been w/ friends who've used them and have hated the things, usually hatred w/ a passion. Their dislike was largely aimed at the hassle of strapping the tow'd securely to the dolly and then the hassle of having to store and secure the dolly while at their destination. They always said that in the long run, expense wise, they ended up not saving much money over the setup for the flat tow. They also complained that their state required a separate registration (license plate) for the dolly, though I guess not every state requires this.

Our 5th wheel and big truck have gone and the next expenditure will be a motor home. The Mav will be our tow'd and it'll be flat towed for sure.

My $0.02 worth, probably worth less than that.

It’s an easy decision for me definitely flat towing just ordered my new RoadMaster baseplate and new RoadMaster Nighthawk towbar for my 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid it will be tagging along my MotorCoach four wheels down soon parts ship 3/21/2025 (I don’t know which model Maverick you have but a tow dolly is not an option for mine it’s either four wheel down or all four wheels off the ground on a trailer)

The biggest disadvantage of the tow dolly is, no matter where you go you need somewhere to keep it when not in use. Somewhere at home for one thing, but it also means you must get a big site at any campground you go to. Many places won't let you keep stuff off the camping pad, so you either need a big site, or pay for an extra parking spot for your tow vehicle if you cannot get a big one.

I've done both, including with the maverick. Tow dolly is a bit cheaper, you'll want something with brakes either surge or the kind that work of a brake controller. And you can dolly about anything fwd. And dont need any modifications to the toad. The cons are you have to stop and check the straps, and connecting the dolly and toad generally requires crawling around on the ground. Also as mentioned if you don't have a pull through your muscling it around Flat tow is more expensive to set up but so much easier, a min or two and your done. Mavericks after dolly Tow will have a ton of warning messages that clear after a 1/4 mile drive. Mavericks in flat tow absolutely need a charge line

Been using a tow dolly for several years behind a RV. As I tow different vehicles, the dolly was my choice. Have not encountered a difficulty with parking the dolly on a site as the RV is not long enough to occupy the entire site.

I have now done both. The bottom line to me is how easy it is to flat tow my Maverick. It can quickly be connected, put in neutral tow, or disconnected. If it wasn’t for the camera I wouldn’t even know it’s back there.

If you're planning on doing lots of towing, go the flat tow route. I dolly tow mine as I only do it a few times a year. It's easy, but painful. And yes, I know its there.

I just flat-towed my maverick for the first time this past weekend and was impressed on how easy it was. I also looked at a dolly, but after watching tons of videos and reading forums, I think it's easy to say most people prefer flat-towing. I installed myself, but with everything needed, I'm at about 3k total cost. I'm really happy I went with flat-towing.

What Maverick do you have and what baseplate did you install I would love to see photos of your front end with the baseplate installed
