Today I was at a park and I got in my truck and tried to start it and my dash lit up with an everchanging list of warnings and flashing lights. See the picture I attached as an example. It wouldn't start or turn off, it just kept cycling through the warnings. I'm one under the battery recall so I tried to jump it with no success.
After about 20-30 minutes I got hold of Ford roadside assistance, I'm under extended warranty. As i talked to them a message appeared on the entertainment screen that said "shutting down because of low battery or something like that" All the flashing lights stopped and I hit the start button and it started. I took it to my dealer to get checked out and they said in two or three days they could check it out. Its my only transportation so I said as long as its running could we make an appointment in a couple of days then check it out. He said yes but when you bring it in it goes in line then and will take 2-3 days to get to it. I wasn't happy and went and talked to the manager. After him telling me he thought it was the recall problem they couldn't do anything anyway. I went ballistic and said so if it breaks down because of the recall problem Ford wouldn't fix it now. He said they would, but they can't send in a request to fix the recall till they know that's what it is. Long story short, they agreed to check it out Wednesday morning at 8:00 am if it lasts that long. They showed me the info on the recall, and it said that a failure could happen at any time and the battery could short out. I enlightened them If it was that and shorted out it wouldn't be starting now. They still think that's the problem. I guess we'll see.

Oh for the old days. Fuel, air, spark, and a crescent wrench.

I jest, because the old days kind of sucked. But a prepared fellow with a few tools and a can of carburetor spray could usually fix anything. These days, even the engineers who designed the vehicles don't really know what's going wrong (ergo months after a recall to even identify a fix).

Another thing I forgot to mention. It was stuck in park and I thought I was going to be towed. I checked the manual how to get to neutral so we could load it on the wrecker. I followed the procedure and wouldn't you know it it stayed in park, after three more tries I gave up. Luckily I got it started eventually.

I already replaced my 12 volt battery (I have a 22 Eco Maverick) with an AGM battery over a year ago. I did not want to wait on Ford to issue a recall. No problems since I installed my battery. I am sorry that you are experiencing this problem.

Were you having problems before you changed it or just a preemptive measure?

I had the same problem with my 22. The battery went bad. Replaced under warranty, no problems.

If someone replaced their battery and HAS the recall, once the program comes out, you can take your receipt in and they can try to get a refund for you...It is up to Ford to okay, but worth a try...just my opinion...

I started to have issues with the battery. I had deep sleep messages on my Ford Pass app and needed to trickle charge the battery once a week.

Are you going to have Ford replace it under warranty?

I replaced it over a year ago with an Interstate AGM battery from Costco. I have had no issues the AGM battery. I highly doubt Ford will reimburse me for my purchase even with the recall....

Curious why you didn't have Ford replace it under warranty?

When the 12v battery is the reason you can't get it out of Park, a jump box will solve the problem. Good thing to keep in vehicles nowadays. Safer than jumper cables, too, both electrically and physically trying to line up two vehicles to jump with cables.

Ford would have replaced it with another EFB instead of an AGM battery.
