Where did Ford mount the inverter, I don't have the factory installed unit but would like to poke around where the company normally mounts them to see if by chance the harness is in place.....

Any help appreciated!

That's not the inverter is it? I have that on my truck and no 110v outlets.

The in-cab inverter is on the back of the middle console (armrest). Next to where the USB plugs for the rear seats are.

Ah, not sure that is correct. The OUTLET is on the rear console. The actual inverter may well be elsewhere. After all, if you get the lux pack and have the one in the bed, there isn't a second inverter there. The question is where do the wires from the outlet go?

I don’t know about the wire harness for the inverter, but I do know that there are no wires in my truck for the outlet in the bed. I would assume that to keep costs down there is no extra copper in the vehicle.

Just curious to find out, generally Ford & Toyota, and probably others, only lay in one "master" harness as a cost savings/efficiency of assembly deal.

I bought a dealer ordered truck and they did not spec the inverter. I have occasion to power up a laptop and office in my vehicle, so looking for the cleanest install options.

When I get the chance I will check out the center console area - one day the tech docs will catch up with consumer demand....

Has anyone verified the location of the actual inverter and not just the outlets?

Just remove the cover in the bed on the driver's side. If their is inverter wiring it should be easy to find.

Second pic, what is the silver box with the cooling fins? Is that the inverter or the B&O amplifier? It's kind of big for a 400 watt inverter.

I wonder if it would be safe to replace the console USB fuse with a 10A or 15A and use a USB to barrel plug adapter to power your laptop. You don't actually need an inverter just to use an AC adapter to convert back to DC. AFAIK the rear console USB has a 5A fuse behind it and the front ports wire directly to the infotainment system.

EDIT: Not enough voltage. Probably won't work.
