I had to pay $170 for the remote start. I had to buy the lux pkg. on my 2023 xlt to get the remote start option.
Same with my 24 XLT with luxury package. I just don't understand Ford's reasoning for it not coming with the lariat in 23. I guess all the covid/chip shortage bullshit.

Get the startX, it works great and well worth the $100 but be aware the range isn't that far. I can start it from the bedroom of my bungalow while the truck is in the garage at the far end or about halfway down the block but that's about it... however far your fob can lock-unlock-lock the doors.

For the first model year 2022 the key fob remote start was part of the XLT & Lariat Luxury packages.
*Then For 2023 models the remote start on the key fob was a $170 stand alone option and it was not included in any packages.
*Then for 2024 models it was included with Lariat trim (which automatically added Lariat Lux items as part of the total Lariat package). For 2024 it was also part of the XLT Lux package.

Based on the order guide for 2025 it looks like it's again standard equipment for the Lariat trim and is included with the XLT Lux package.

So 2023 was the real odd duck year where it was only available as a stand alone option.
Thanks so much! This confirms my suspicion that it just wasn't available.

Thanks so much. Yeah. I think I'm going to buy the startx and install it. It's pretty cheap and quick.

For whatever reason, this cold morning my Ford Pass app would not work. I was very annoyed when I realized I only knew how to start my truck
through my phone. I don't have a key fob with the remote start option. the app is working now, but sucked getting into a cold truch when it's 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

So I've been searching this forum and it seems to me that StartX from amazon would be the easiest. I'd prefer to get a third key, but it seems too complicated/expensive. Before I pull the trigger, what is the easiest/cheapest way to get a non internet based way to start your car? I'd consider a key with auto start if programming isn't too much of a hassle and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I prefer avoiding the stealership.
I have the same bitch. I alley the 800 number for Ford Pass. She told me it was “Technolog” whatever the “F##k that means.

Most new vehicles have remote start with a key fob capability. It is just the dealership has to turn it on and you need the correct key fob. I have seen the key fobs for sale for $300 for two factory ford fobs. Then they need programmed and the computer on the truck needs programmed. Dealerships charge 1-2 hours labor. So close to $500 total price to have factory remote start that works and is covered by warranty. If startx is $100 and works that’s great unless it void’s warranty or if Ford can tell you altered something.
It's not a simple matter of "just turning it on". Mavericks (and some other Fords) with keyfob remote start have an extra Radio Transceiver Module (usually mounted above the map light area) that handles receiving the signal and then communicating to the BCM/PCM to start. Similarly when you initiate a remote start with the app it's received by the Telematics Module and then handed off to the BCM.

Did not know that. I know most GM cars it’s already installed just not turned on. My son bought a 2024 Colorado that did not have the key fob start. Just take it to the dealer and they can turn it on. About 1-2 hours labor plus new fobs.

My 23 Lariat doesn't have it either. I do have the keypad on the door though, which I understand Ford deceided to discontinue on many models now.

remote start for aftermarket is activated at the gateway module (behind OBD2 port)

I've been installing remote starts for about 20 years. For anyone wondering here are the diagrams from Compustar/iDatalink:

One is the T harness version with no wire connections and the other is one that is hardwired.

We sure have gotten spoiled.i didn't have a vehicle with remote start until I was in my early 50,s. Our maverick has it as does my ram.our caravan doesn't and it's no big deal during Michigan's cold days.

I installed the perimeter plus module on my 22 XL hybrid and it worked great. The app stopped working due to the deep sleep issue but starting from the fob worked flawlessly everytime (as long as you were in range).

I traded in the 22 for a 25 XL AWD hybrid a couple weeks ago and was disappointed when I went to reinstall it on the '25 as it is a different connection setup back there.

Does anyone know if there's a new solution for the '25 that's out (or coming out) that will do the same thing for as easy as it is on the older gen?

And if anyone wants a perimeter plus module that will work for '22s-'24s I will be selling this one!

The remote keyless entry means it has to have a key fob that can lock and unlock the vehicle remotely, which is almost anything built in the last ten years.

So you're 23 lariat didn't come with a key fob that you can use to remote start your truck like by 24 XLT does? Where you lock once hit the button below that twice and get a confirmation on the key fob small green flash for it worked red flash for it failed?

Mine starts with the fob from my window! Thanks for the tip!
