First World problems.... 😭
Yes, we live in the first world and pay for luxury features so it's annoying when they don't work.
If you want to complain about third world problems I think that's another forum.

So you're 23 lariat didn't come with a key fob that you can use to remote start your truck like by 24 XLT does? Where you lock once hit the button below that twice and get a confirmation on the key fob small green flash for it worked red flash for it failed?

Yep, directly from the owner's manual. My 24XLT came with one along with a Ford Velcro booklet. I also have one downloaded to my Samsung Galaxy tablet.😉👍

remote start for aftermarket is activated at the gateway module (behind OBD2 port)

I've been installing remote starts for about 20 years. For anyone wondering here are the diagrams from Compustar/iDatalink:

One is the T harness version with no wire connections and the other is one that is hardwired.

Startex has a T harness, which makes installation simple. The hardest part is getting to the OBD2 port.

Hello from sub-artic ice station Mulvane, Kansas...

Friday Feb 14th, i parked my 2024 Mverick Hybrid Cowboy Edition, next to the ranch house.. I was hunkered down for the artic blast, Max Velocity had predicted on the internet. I have my Ham Radio station. One complete system totally on Solar power and the second on commercial mains. I can in the event of an emergency, sustain myself for a few weeks. I have all the comforts of home.. and planned on staying inside except to feed the cattle and break ice in the cattle troughs. To occupy my time, besides Ham Radio, and the internet, for the 1st time in 5-8 years I did my income taxes without having filed an extention.
Well, a few days this week, my weather station indicated minus 9 and minus 6 degree weather at dawn, and high temperatures of only 12 degrees. The Maverick was in the freezer!!

Yesterday, -Thursday I started thinking, well, the Maverick has been sitting 6 days. Worse cold I have seen in Kansas in the 12 years I have lived here. Time to try the remote start..

No problem at all starting... this is only the 2nd time i tried the remote starting.. So I"m pleased.. Sometime later today, i am going to take it ou ton the road.

However, sitting next to my Maverick is my bought new 2002 GMC Duramax diesel 2500HD. I"ve owned it 23 years... it has never not started for me, except on etime I failed to use anti gel.. I will also start thet later today.. I did plug in the block heater last Friday when i headed the weather forcasts. So I expect both to fire and run..

This mornings MAX Velocity weather cast on YOU TUBE states it will become mild next week...

I have survived!!!!...

With that, and my experience in IT-computers, communications systems, Areospace and such. i suspect the remote start app for Ford Mavericks is adequate and perhaps failure to ignite was not the fault of the cell phone or the Maverick, but the cell tower local to your location.. At 75 years old, this is my 1st vehicle with a remote start.. I don't expect it to work 100% of the time. Neither should you..

Regards,
Larry W8LM - Licensed Amatur Radio operator 59 years..

It's a miracle anything ever works.
I was programmer in 70's. The pipeline terminal which loaded Gasoline delivery trucks had a teletype rotary dial up punched paper tape spool. It took 4-10 days to mail the tape to the billing office for processing and then printing bills and mailing to purchase. Then the due date was ten days after billing date. We automated the procedure and I had to program an IBM 360 running three partitions with up to 9 programs in each partition (the days when even a mainframe only had one CPU). I had to write a program to post a flag in the operating program to interrupt the CPU every time it was necessary to send the pulse of a rotary phone dialing a number and repeat after a pause for the rotary dial to be turned for the next pulse string to be dialed. (Had to have IBM TECH hookup scope on phone line so I could match the "print string" pulses with what the phone company expected. Decrease the $$$$ float on outstanding billing in weeks to pay for all costs.

that’s what the first page is of the compustar. The Startex would be the same.

Thanks, I'm going to try that. Who knows, maybe that will work. I tried doing the lock, lock, then hold down longer on the third time which is how most Manufacturers did their autostart through a normal looking fob.

Something tells me I'm missing something. There is NO way Ford created a mobile app to start a car without having a remote control backup.
Actually yes - every XL/XLT without option for remote start is missing a bit of items to allow fob remote start.
Not just the fob.

Too many key fobs. Weird, my truck is a lariat with autostart (at least through the mobile app). You'd think I would've gotten a key fob too. Maybe they made a mistake and didn't program and give the correct fobs.
So both fobs received are like the picture?
You bought it new, and received 2 fobs with tags that should be kept?

My dealer was about to make another fob because they couldn't find the 2nd that came with truck - someone misplaced it.
I could easily see them making another set using wrong fobs.

The remote keyless entry means it has to have a key fob that can lock and unlock the vehicle remotely, which is almost anything built in the last ten years.
Actually keyless entry means something different than remote lock/unlock, and uses different frequency and modules on the Maverick. And is an option not on all trims/packages.

Keyless entry on truck comes with push-button start - the fob when moved is always sending out a signal showing it's there - the truck responds by allowing the hand on door to unlock, no need to push unlock button, fob remains in purse/pocket. Also allows the push button to work.
And with extra receivers it can tell if fob in car or outside, and behaves as if key in ignition for some lock/unlock scenarios.

USING KEYLESS ENTRY

Unlocking the Doors
Ford Maverick Easiest way to remote start Truck (alternative to App) {filename}

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle for a brief period and then pull on the door handle to unlock, being careful not to touch the lock sensor at the same time or pull on the door handle too quickly. The intelligent access system requires a brief delay to authenticate your intelligent access key.
Locking the Doors

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the outer door handle lock sensor for approximately one second to lock, being careful not to touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle at the same time. After locking, you can immediately pull on the door handle to confirm locking occurred without inadvertently unlocking.

UNLOCKING AND LOCKING THE DOORS USING THE REMOTE CONTROL

You can only use the remote control when your vehicle is stationary.

First World problems.... 😭
That's only half the reason I'm posting about it. Yes, I like my car to have been on for 3 or 4 minutes before I get in. I also like having the turbo engine lubricated and the oil to be slightly heated up. I know manufacturers make engines now that can go right away, but I still do it for insurance. The second half is i'm a veryt cheap guy and want to have things I paid for work properly.

we all live in a first world with modern conveniences and luxuries. For instance, we have the ability to spare a few minutes af our time, take out a pocket sized wireless device meant for calling people that has internet capabilities and a keyboard, go on the internet, read a forum that's supposed to be about helping others troubleshoot, make smart a$$ comments that don't help anyone, and marvel at how funny we think we are while we're dropping a deuce on the john, flush that john, and expel our byproducts underground which eventually find their way to a processing plant.

Upon accomplishing that important task, we can return to our meaningless lives until our next toilet break where we can return to making ourselves feel better by making smart comments.

Amazing.
