For whatever reason, this cold morning my Ford Pass app would not work. I was very annoyed when I realized I only knew how to start my truck
through my phone. I don't have a key fob with the remote start option. the app is working now, but sucked getting into a cold truch when it's 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

So I've been searching this forum and it seems to me that StartX from amazon would be the easiest. I'd prefer to get a third key, but it seems too complicated/expensive. Before I pull the trigger, what is the easiest/cheapest way to get a non internet based way to start your car? I'd consider a key with auto start if programming isn't too much of a hassle and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I prefer avoiding the stealership.

🤔 Roll over, poke your wife or significant other and say, 'Could you please go out and start my truck?'
Be advised. The costs of that service are extremely high.
If you are living alone you are out of luck.😆

Can you please post a picture of your key FOB?

The 18 escape we bought used had remote start installed on it at the dealership, not the factory. The fobs didn't have the start button, but I believe it was lock-unlock-lock, within like 3 seconds would start the vehicle. the above perimeter security system might be the best option

So you're 23 lariat didn't come with a key fob that you can use to remote start your truck like by 24 XLT does? Where you lock once hit the button below that twice and get a confirmation on the key fob small green flash for it worked red flash for it failed?

No, my key fobs for whatever reason didn't have the 2x button to start the car.

The start x is $100, and if it takes more than 10 minutes to install and have working, you need help.
It's why I've been leaning towards this. Key fob would be nice, but to hell with paying hundreds for a key and programming.

Thanks, I'm going to try that. Who knows, maybe that will work. I tried doing the lock, lock, then hold down longer on the third time which is how most Manufacturers did their autostart through a normal looking fob.

Something tells me I'm missing something. There is NO way Ford created a mobile app to start a car without having a remote control backup.

Thank you for the fast reply and picture.
I wonder how many key FOB's Ford actually has for the Maverick?
Does anything happen when you hit the center lock button twice or hold it for a second or two?

Too many key fobs. Weird, my truck is a lariat with autostart (at least through the mobile app). You'd think I would've gotten a key fob too. Maybe they made a mistake and didn't program and give the correct fobs.

What happens if you push that Center lock button twice and hold it a second or two?

Most new vehicles have remote start with a key fob capability. It is just the dealership has to turn it on and you need the correct key fob. I have seen the key fobs for sale for $300 for two factory ford fobs. Then they need programmed and the computer on the truck needs programmed. Dealerships charge 1-2 hours labor. So close to $500 total price to have factory remote start that works and is covered by warranty. If startx is $100 and works that’s great unless it void’s warranty or if Ford can tell you altered something.
