Haha. Yep, I thought the 20 Maverick was as ugly as ugly can get. I was so wrong. That is one butt ugly Hyundai!

Sorry, but to me the Santa Cruz is just an SUV with a short bed put on where the hatch back was cut out.
I guess it’s all that’s out there and is closer to the Maverick than anything else but it’s very far from a truck.
a poor comparison to me.
I’m waiting for Honda to chop the back end off an Accord next.
Bad Idea.

lol.... what do you think the Maverick is? Ford just did a better job making it look like a truck. 😉

It is a truck, everything’s in the right place. They couldn’t name it the Escape truck. It’s the size of the original rangers.

The Santa Cruz looks just like all the Chinese/Japanese stuff
Your correct, Ford did a much better job of building a mini truck.

I think we saw two different philosophies at play. Ford went for the more traditional truck look because they have the truck heritage. Hyundai doesn't, so they went with something more "stylish" and lifestyle focused.

I see cohesive design elements throughout Hyundai lineup. After several models I now identify the designs with Hyundai. Hyundai labels Santa Cruz as sport adventure vehicle. I label it a truck. It's more of a lifestyle vehicle. Maverick is more traditional. Much more closely aligned with truck buyers expectations.
I'm glad both exist.
Ford Maverick is a great design. Hybrid delivers fantastic mileage and utility. Santa Cruz does not compare.
Very happy with out 23 Maverick Hybrid.

I grew up in Southeast Asia & just realized, I think Santa Cruz is styled for the Asian market.

US is culturally acclimated to a luxury truck work on a jobsite & get in your leather wrapped luxury truck. Asians hire laborers they want the work vehicle separate from non-work vehicle.

Santa Cruz styled for people who need to haul stuff but don't want to appear like a manual laborer in a work truck.
"See sport activity & swoopy styling people won't notice the "activity" bed & think you're manual laborer, & we give you Dual clutch transmission which is horrible for hauling it overheats at low speed high torque crawling, how is that a utility transmission its same type Porsche 911 has"
