Gen Z and X er's just ignore my comment.. My pet peeve is ALL the damned software control over the entire truck. If I wanted to be made to hit multiple buttons just to get the truck out of my driveway, I would have bought a plane with all the checklist........
Other than a Lariat or a 2025 with push button start, you don't have to push any buttons to drive the truck.
🤔 John, What buttons do you have to push in order to drive the truck?

At 70, I definitely don't qualify as a z or y.
This is my routine.
1. Walk to the truck. While walking I unlock truck with the button on the FOB.
2. Open door get into truck, close the door.
3. Put key in ignition and start truck and fasten seat belt.
4. Put foot on the brake, turn the selector knob and put the truck in gear, then release the parking brake and drive away.
Optional
6. Push mode button, if I don't want standard mode. I personally feel you should be able to lock it into the last mode you used.

I ignore the seat belt indicator. It will self extinguish in 60 seconds.

I have had my 2024 close to a year now. It is an XLT with luxury and black package. I really like and enjoy the truck. But as with most vehicles there always seems to be one item that bugs the heck out of you.
My one item: I can't believe Ford didn't put power windows with one-touch up. Ughh! Every time I go to a drive-through I curse that I have to hold the button while driving off. My 2013 CRV had one touch up and down. That is my one gripe.

What is your one pet peeve about the truck that you would change if possible? Just mention one please. :)
The damn dim tiny infotainment screen😡 which is now finally fixed after the rear cam recall!

I'm sure others have mentioned it, but the lack of cruise even as an option on the 2022 XL was pretty annoying. I did the Rostra thing. But it should have been either standard equipment or at least an option. Even dealer installed option.

Ford clearly recognized their mistake since the next year cruise was standard equipment on the Maverick, including the XL.

Why doesn't the Hybrid start in ECO Mode? I imagine most people bought a Hybrid model with fuel economy being a major factor in their decision. At least give us the option to chose the start up mode.

6 months and 8000 miles in Tremor Lariat.
A few minor pet peeves already mentioned above,
But MAJOR annoyance is the dial shifter.
(and of course the lack of a slick shifting manual transmission)

Living in the great lakes north, the non ability to use a hand crank to open a frozen window is my pet peeve. Driving up to a postal box or any drive thru and not being able to open the window at all is frustrating.

Yeah I'm that old.
Hand crank?

I agree with you.
Ford certified the Maverick in standard mode for their fuel ratings therefore the truck has to default to that.
I read that on the 2025's the truck asks you whether you want to stay in the last mode you used and you press a button saying yes. It is not perfect, but it is a step in the right direction.

When my car tells me no. Like when I try to turn on the dome light, and I have to do it twice. Or when I have to pull the high beam twice.

Having to hit the "OK" button to clear the infotainment screen.

When parking on the tiniest of slopes the car rocking after I place it in park and releasing the brake.

When the door doesn't fully close due to cabin pressure. This happens way too often. Even in my Ranger.

I just love this forum!
How cool is it that you guys have made your own thread for whiners!!!
Whine-on my Maverick friends!
It was amusing for a while answering some questions because several peoples' pet peeves were actually just a lack of awareness on how to do something.

But... yeah, it's time.

I miss manual windows, and wing vents
Pet peeve #2. The slot by the dial shifter is too narrow. It only fits 1 card at a time. When I fill my gas tank at costco, I need 2 cards.
How big is the tank on your Maverick? If I needed 2 cards, I would only fill up once a year!

I think I have an oddball truck (‘24 XL eco boost 4K) the “one touch” works when I put the window up but not down. It’s actually really sensitive. I rarely put my windows all the way down so maybe it does work then.🤷🏻‍♂️.
I only have one option on the AWD, slippery. I thought all the AWD models had different modes (snow/ice, mud, rocks/ruts). Anyone know the deal on that?
