Looking at your picture of the wrecked maverick. It doesn’t look like there was much damage for it to be totaled.

Glad everyone is ok, and the Ranger looks great! But I have to ask.....what happened between October & now? 😱

As I was driving to work in October, I was in a collision with another vehicle. No one was hurt, thank God! But my Mav was totaled! I would have replaced the Mav with another Mav but decided to get a Ranger. It's not as cool as my AWD Mav, but it's fun too...and a little more space. Maybe one day I'll trade it in for another Maverick.

Glad no one was hurt. I hear Ranger was awarded “Truck of the Year”. Good choice. I think all I needed was a Twuck (Maverick).

That new Ranger won car of the year, and has been receiving a lot of great reviews. Please stop back after you've owned it for a while and let us know what you think of it.

ridiculous how a little accident can total a Mav. i'm old so i'm accustomed to seeing badly wrecked cars brought back to service. i know, unibody, complicated electroics, safety, yada, yada.

I going back to the 60's &70's.
Vehicles may have been brought back to service but, how safe were they?
When you look at the OP's picture.
You can see where the front wheel has been hit hard. On a front-wheel drive car there are a lot of expensive components tied into that front axle.
When repair shops started to gain certifications. A lot of the hack shops were forced to close up.

What year is your Ranger?

How does the interior fit and finish compare to the Maverick?

I'm still waiting for a 24 maverick XLT, I have a deposit on, but looking at a 24 Ranger STX online, looks nice but curious if interior fit and finish on par with the Maverick or better.

It also comes down to safety. Back in the 60s and 70s you could bounce a Camaro or Nova (ask my Dad how he knows) off a tree and all it did was move the bumper back an inch or two while all of that energy was transferred to the occupants.

Vehicles today are built with crumple zones that absorb the energy and keep passengers safe.

Honestly - if I get hit in my Maverick I don't want it back so I like that they are totaled that is what insurance is for and the scarcity of Mavericks is over.

Good luck! The Ranger will have a better survivability in crashes. The Maverick will easily be totaled by insurance and not take accidents well in the front and back. As far as room, the Ranger has more, not by much. I love my Maverick but it feels like driving a 4 door economy car. Got in my full size truck yesterday and just feels so great big, comfortable and own the road. Thank God for the Maverick, to be able to drive an economy car that simulates a truck! Could never drive a small car.

Someone at work was asking me about the Maverick and I said at the end of the day it’s a slightly beefed up Ford Escape but the real magic trick is that Ford made it feel and drive like a Ford truck.

I sold a 20 Ranger to buy the first Maverick and it was a nice truck but the new Maverick checked more boxes (for me) and when Ford no longer offered an ext cab Ranger I kept buying Mavericks.
Having said that the Ranger had a little more meat on its bones, towed considerably more, bigger bed, etc. Used more gas (22-23 combined) and my pet peeve was I couldn't reach in the bed from the side to reach most items. lol
That was the main reason I sold my 17 Colorado. Loved the style but my T-Rex arms couldn't reach diddly squat in the bed.

Nice looking truck! Looks like it has a small lift?? My biggest complaint against the Ranger was the stance. They looked like they needed a slight lift in the front to sit level. Enjoy!

If a Maverick head lamp assembly cost $1K, can you imagine how much money can be made if a wreck is parted out ? I wonder if insurance companies get a decent return by scrapping the vehicle. I am just thinking out loud and have no idea if parting out make any sense.
