Majority of the time I don't have rear seat passengers. I often leave the rear seat bottom raised for access to gloves and tie downs stored underneath. For the long time owners has anyone else driven for an extended time with the rear seat raised. Does it cause extra wear/strain on the latch so that the seat won't stay latched in the up position?
Not interested in removing the seat as some have done. I have a rear seat passenger often enough to make that impractical.

I have not dug into the latching mechanism therefore, I don't know how robust it is. I'll try and do some research to find out.
Does your seat bottom not stay raised any longer?

It appears that part number seven the release handle. It seems the pull straps connect centrally to a cable that operates pins that work with the hinges on either side of the bench. Locking the bench seat either in the up or down position

It works just fine. Question is for what might happen 2-3 years down the line.
I know the parts could be replaced either new or salvage. Just curious if anyone has had problems. The posts about the seat not staying latched in the down position made me think of asking the group.

Maybe a bungee cord to the child seat tether behind the seat back would take the load off the latch?

Haven't had the need . rarely raise it at all . Would have to remove all the stuff that sits on top of it . not worth it to me . would be nice to have a split seat bottom for easier access to storage area . had that in previous f150 . Something after market would be nice .

I have to cart my stupid kid around in a car seat so I haven’t seen under the back seat in years!

For all the pearl clutchers, this was a joke! I love my son more than anything. I would kill and die for him. 99% of what I say on here is just me trying(poorly) to be funny.

Like peanut butter and chocolate.

Use the bungie to put the seat in the bed, and have the cab to yourself!
  🤪

I just leave the seat down and threw two rectangular plastic laundry containers atop the seat. They don't slide and are very convenient bins for "stuff".

I'd still trade the rear doors and seats for a BEV "frunk". In a heartbeat.

🤓 🤪 I won’t want to leave the seat bottom up in the back, it’s just too easy to pull the handle and raise it. :p
