This is a very subjective topic as I only know one individual that uses Maverick Tremor off road and it's all sand so it's hard to get a good comparison with out more input from other drivers. I have been driving on the beach to fish since I purchased my Tremor. Most individuals just drive there Maverick's for every day driving. Driving habits could make a a big difference on how your vehicle performs. Up until today (heavy rain) the season has been dry and sand are hard on your vehicle. One day while we were driving to our spot I was leading and he was trailing far behind. It was a straight shot down the shore of the beach the sand was extremely soft he's not one to lag behind not sure how he had his modes configured but I was at least at 20 mph or 25 which is very fast for soft sand that's why I had said I thought I outperformed his vehicle however I never did ask him but I suspected that he was bogging down or he keep it in sand mode. I never keep my vehicle in sand mold unless it's soft sand and hilly and tough terrain or a speed limit.. I use the manual controls on my console. In sand mode the transmission will hold gears longer with higher revs and it's usually Just shifts to 1st and 2nd It would take me a long time revving at 2K plus to get to my destination . So on a straight run I will keep the Tremor in Normal mode and hit the 4 wheel lock button and if needed the differential lock. In normal mode the transmission will upshift faster that's why I did not go with the taller tire. It sounds complicated but if you drive on the sand and have experience you will understand exactly what I'm saying and doing. The photo is what I describe as a long run we go far into the distance of that photo so if you were in sand mode it would take you forever to get there. Conditions that day were mediocre and the sand was damp and had very little stress on the drive train. This is interesting to hear. Was your friend having issues with bogging down? I ask because there are other variables that could also impact offroad performance. Driver experience and tread pattern come to mind. Tremor gearing should help offset the bigger tire but I'm not sure how much impact that would have.
