If you're going to lose sleep over it, go get it. But I would not sweat it. It's a truck, not a hypercar.

As my posts have posted on the bottom...of the screen..1,000 miles below 70mph, without hard acceleration or hard braking.
Do I have a thread that you need to comment on. Post #1 &7Take the delivery. If you saw how all the vehicles are roll tested and driven by the shippers at the factory this wouldn't be on your radar.
Cheers.
Based on what? What has changed to make it a relic?the "break in period" thing is a relic of the past.
They're not abusive during the roll test, it's a monitored process. It does sound like the vehicles are working hard during the run up, though. Probably the optimum initial break in process for ring sealing. The shippers are working to a schedule, but it's a short drive to the train..

Nothing super scientific. More of a "Some manufacturers don't say you need one anymore." Everyone is of course free to do what they want.Based on what? What has changed to make it a relic?
Modern manufacturing (crankshafts excludedBased on what? What has changed to make it a relic?
) and better materials make it less important than in past decades. I know that I will be changing oil after the first 1K miles. Most mechanics recommend it. And even if they are wrong, what's the worst that could happen if I do an extra oil change?Nothing super scientific. More of a "Some manufacturers don't say you need one anymore." When I did my 1,700 mile drive home from the dealership in 2023, I did an oil change within about a week and sent it in for analysis. For sure. You and I are on the same page there. Oil was both "young" in terms of age and also nowhere near the mileage at which Ford recommends you change it.I know that I will be changing oil after the first 1K miles. Most mechanics recommend it. It's in the owner's manual, though. I didn't read it until after I'd driven about 100 miles of highway driving before it even had 200 miles on it. The manual is pretty vague, though. It says to avoid "high speeds." How high is high?Drove my 2023 1,700+ miles over 72 hours. Something like 12+hours per day at freeway speeds. No negative impacts. I have had my oil tested by Blackstone twice since then. No problems. I know I am a sample size of 1, but the "break in period" thing is a relic of the past.
