I cant buy used.
bought a few used vehicles when I was 16-20, and always had issues that had I owned from day 1 wouldn't of happened. now I only buy new vehicles, at least if something breaks, it wont be due to ignored signs or lack of maintenance.

yeah it cost more, but I feel better being the first owner, and having all the history of it being mine. but I only owned the following. 2013 scion tc, 2015 mustang (someone hit and ran it) then bought 2017 mustang, 2024 gr86 (sold this sucker immediately I didnt enjoy it) and now 2025 maverick on order.

same with motorcycles, every damn motorcycle I buy that seemed flawless, like within short time developed issues. never again. even if price is double. the amount of work people do to deceive or make something run great for short time to sell it, is mind blowing, if they had put 1/4th this effort maintaining them in first place wouldn't have any issues. but nope, lets be lazy and deceitful.
I definitely understand wanting to buy new. For me, I just can’t justify the price anymore. My 22 maverick will probably be the last new car I ever buy. I can’t stand all this digital stuff. Digital dashboards, massive screens and no physical buttons anymore. Once my maverick starts having issues I’ll probably buy a 1st gen tundra next

I haven't really noticed the dash yet, but I will and will get back to you. Someone said about their 2025 that it feels more sturdy, more solid. I have to agree. It's hard to put my finger on it, but I agree.

One thing I've noticed is I have to keep re-closing my door. I go to shut my door, and it only half clicks. I have to open and shut it again, so it's all the way closed. Was my '22 like that when I got it, and over time the seal had lost some of its elasticity? Possibly, but the new Maverick just seems more solid. I hope it lasts.
My drivers door definitely made a different sound than the 23 when closing. Not good or bad, but different.

Interesting you say it feels like it has more power. I wonder if they tuned it different to have more torque off the line or maybe it's a different drive ratio with the new transmission. Though not sure how the drive ratio works with an eCVT.
Pure speculation here but it may just be the beefier eCVT being able to push more power to the wheels?

It's good to know the build quality seems to have improved. Although I think that's just because of the newness factor since the materials haven't changed. I'm sure overtime the inevitable squeaks and rattles will make their way in. But it's good that more than just one new owner is taking notice. Only time will tell. I can't wait to see for myself when mine comes in. It's almost here. It's slated to arrive early next week.

I’m glad you both mentioned this because I’ve noticed the same thing with my driver door haha. I almost never get it shut on the first try. Just takes a little more oomph than I’ve been used to with my previous vehicle. I haven’t noticed it with any of the other doors though which is odd.

that's interesting. can you take a close look and maybe some pics of the insulation on the door frame?

wind noise at 70+ is definitely an issue in the 22-24 maverick. I'd be curious of your feedback on that with the new truck, also.

Glad you like it. I think the bigger screen and 360 cameras would be the only thing that would tempt me to upgrade from my 23 Lariat.

And I agree on the heated steering wheel. Even living in Central Alabama, I very quickly became a convert when we got it in the Escape.
Agree on the heated steering wheel. Heated seats in the winter takes a while to feel them with winter coat on. Steering wheel is almost immediate. Wife loves tge heated seats though.

Whatever the case is, I'm definitely not getting as good mileage. Someone mentioned not getting as good mileage when it's cold, but I thought cold only affected mileage until the battery heated up. I'm driving 32 miles to work, so it should heat up within 5 minutes, right?

My previous Maverick was getting 42-45mpg coming to work, and my new Maverick is getting between 32-35mpg. That's pretty significant. Hopefully it's a breaking in period or it gets fixed with an update.

Also, it's harder to get it to slip into Electric mode. I used to give my '22 Maverick a little gas and back off on a flat surface, and it would go into electric mode until I hit a hill. The new truck doesn't slip into Electric nearly as easy.

Does your heated steering wheel cool off after a while? Mine heats up quickly and is toasty, but after a few minutes it cools off to about "room temperature". Is that normal?

heat level and duration are configurable in forscan. weirdly, not all trucks seem to have the same factory settings.

Can I leave the truck running with the key in my pocket and lock the door from the outside using the keypad?
On the push button I'm pretty sure YES, but it does shut off after awhile. 5-10minutes?

If you leave a fob in the car, you MUST use the push button on the 22-23. Locking the door then closing it with a fob inside results in two horn beeps and it unlocks. (Wife may leave hers in the truck if I have mine).

You know why...$$$$. I don't know how much they save, but I'm sure it's significant.
I was also very disappointed with the removal of so many buttons and the folding of the climate control into the touchscreen. I would have very happily kept the smaller screen if that let us keep more knobs. But y'all are right that the trend is towards fewer and fewer knobs and buttons, even when all the car critics are praising the fact that the Maverick had as many as it did relative to the Santa Cruz.

In fact, I seriously considered getting a Nissan Frontier precisely because it has so many knobs and buttons. I'll post a picture of the 2025 Frontier so you can see what I mean.

Ford Maverick Just received my 2025 Maverick ... initial review from MY2022 owner. 1736350719693-sn

My thinking was that in a truck especially, you need to be able to operate the controls while wearing gloves. I've never met a touch screen I can operate while wearing regular gloves. I also prefer actual gages to digital ones. In the end though, the Frontier had much worse MPG and doesn't fit in my garage, so Maverick it was.

And, since I'm posting, add me to the heated seats fan club. I first had them two cars ago and never looked back. Even in warm weather, on long drives, they make my back feel so much better. I'm looking forward to the heated steering wheel this time around, because I think it will be a Godsend for arthritic fingers. This will also be my first vehicle with any kind of backup camera, and I'm kind of looking forward to that too. When I was thirty, I had no issues twisting around to look out the back window and would (and did) think backup cameras were kind of silly. Now... not so much. And finally, this will be my first vehicle with a truck bed. I realize that's kind of basic around here, but it is one of the things I'm stoked about.

There are, as always, several features that I have no use for or even find undesirable, but that's been the case buying every car ever. It's always a compromise.

11) I forgot to mention, the sound system sounds better which is a huge plus!!
OP, can you comment on this a bit more? I've sat in a '22 XLT and thought the sound system was basically serviceable, but knew I'd want to add a sub. Is the difference in clarity, range, bass, etc? I'm excited to try mine out when it arrives, but you're the first I've seen comment on a difference!

you really traveled full circle on that one. (and welcome to the forums btw.)

a few things - there are many light and medium weight winter gloves that have touchscreen compatibility. you can check reviews, or buy from somewhere easy to return, because my personal experiences vary. it works GREAT in a cheapie pair of "HEAD" brand gloves (the sports equipment brand), but the gloves themselves are not that warm, and more expensive gloves I've had with the feature haven't worked as well. there aren't any work gloves, but if you need to do more than just quickly move the truck, take them off.

you can change the climate set point by enabling auto mode and then pushing the voice assistant button on the steering wheel and saying 'climate set 70' or whatever temp. it rarely requires more than changing the set point - maybe forced defrost on a long drive in sleet / snow.

I always forget the audio controls. While I currently have very limited audio controls, they are basically only able to direct my phone to do things like call specific people. Even then, it's a crapshoot whether it will actually dial the right name. Texting by voice dictation is even worse. Still suspect I'm likely to miss knobs, but it will be interesting to find out.
