$75 is ridiculous. That's the most expensive K&N drop-in I've ever seen. Maverick tax??? I paid like $40 for the one in my Explorer ST.
I agree. I mean what is so special about the K&N filter at $75 vs the Ford recommended FA-1948 that costs $22

Also why is it even necessary to change the filter now as Ford recommends changing at 30,000 miles which for me is 5 years of driving.

What percentage of people do you recon properly maintain their K&N filters? Maaaybe 20%? That’s why I don’t use them. I’m too lazy lol
Same here. I had a K&N in my Wrangler for years and it was just a pain in the ass. Think I actually cleaned it twice before I threw it away.
Paper is better anyway. They breath better and catch more particulates.

Given the fact that the gasoline engine is only running about 50-60% of the time and it's not really responsive as a performance engine I hardly see this as a "worth the money" investment that will net any noticeable results in either acceleration or fuel economy.

It might be good if you never want to buy a filter again, but given mainstream replacement filters can be gotten for $10-12 on Rock Auto and only need replacement every 20-30k miles it just makes little sense to me.

If it's about showing off the K&N sticker on your back window, they can be gotten on Ebay ;)

What's the big gimmick with the K&N filters that's supposedly better than factory OEM?

You pay $75, Plus your motor innards are slowly being sandblasted. IMO YMMV
Yep. And it's $75.00 PLUS shipping. Outrageous.

You know its overpriced when they have to offer a finance option (4 payments) LOL.

Who would have ever thought of the need to purchase a vehicle air filter via monthly payments, WTF????

30,000 could be a long time, and if you live in a polluted area the filter will definitely clog before that. I still think every 10,000 or once a year is the best bet.
