I rotated the tires on my mav today.. Thanks to Grok I was able to figure out the 80's gamer cheat code to get the thing in to TPMS training mode. Would it be that hard for them to just put it in one of the menu's on the instrument screen?

Thanks for attending my Ted Talk

For those who would like to know.

Manual TPMS Relearn Procedure.
To reset or retrain the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on a Ford Maverick after adjusting tire pressures or rotating tires,

inflate all tires to correct PSI, turn the ignition off, cycle the key or accessory mode and press the brake pedal/hazard switch in sequence to enter training mode. Most users on Reddit agree that the system often clears itself after driving above 20 mph, but a manual relearn can also be forced.
Manual TPMS Relearn Procedure
  • Check Pressure: Adjust all four tires to the recommended PSI listed on your driver's door placard.
  • Enter Training Mode:
  • Turn ignition OFF, then press and release the brake pedal. Cycle the ignition from OFF to RUN (accessory on without starting engine) 3 times, ending in RUN. Press and release the brake pedal. Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN 3 more times, ending in RUN. The horn will sound once and the TPMS light will flash, showing it is in training mode (displaying "Train LF Tire" if equipped).
  • Train Sensors:
  • Front-Left (Driver Side): Hold a TPMS reset tool near the valve stem and press the button until the horn chirps. (Alternatively, some models allow letting air out of the tire until the horn chirps). Front-Right (Passenger Side): Repeat the trigger tool or air-release process. Rear-Right (Passenger Rear): Repeat the process. Rear-Left (Driver Rear): Repeat the process until the horn chirps twice indicating training is complete.

I did it this way. Still a pain in the ass..

Manual Sensor Relearn / Training Mode (After Rotation, New Sensors, or Persistent Issues)

The 2025 Maverick uses a direct TPMS system. After rotating tires or installing new sensors, the module may need to relearn sensor IDs and positions. Two entry methods exist; owner reports and service patterns distinguish them.

Hazard flasher method (common for relearning positions of already-paired sensors; works on many Mavericks including earlier years):

  1. Drive above 20 mph for at least 2 minutes, then park safely with access to all tires and an air pump.
  2. Switch ignition off.
  3. Switch ignition on (engine off / accessory or RUN position—do not start). For push-button start, press the start button without pressing the brake until accessories come on.
  4. Switch the hazard flashers on then off three times within 10 seconds.
  5. Success is indicated by a single horn chirp, the TPMS indicator flashing, and a message such as “TRAIN LF TIRE” (or similar) in the instrument cluster.

Once in training mode (either entry method):

  • Train sensors in this order (clockwise): Left Front (driver) → Right Front → Right Rear → Left Rear.
  • At each tire, either:
    • Deflate air until the horn chirps (single chirp = success; double chirp = failure—retry that sensor), or
    • Use a TPMS activation/relearn tool held near the valve stem / sidewall and press the tool’s test button until the horn chirps.
  • Do not wait more than ~2 minutes between sensors or the procedure times out and must be restarted.
  • After the last (left rear) sensor, the system should indicate “TRAINING COMPLETE” (or similar). Switch ignition off.
  • Re-inflate all tires to the correct placard pressure and drive to verify.

I had no idea if you were going to post the procedure or not.
I figured sooner or later someone would want to know.🤷‍♂️
Now we have more than one way to do the TPMS relearn procedure.👍

I've never had an issue after rotating the wheels. 3 times now total rotation, 1 time alignment front wheel swaps.

No special process is required actually - after some driving that includes corners - it figures it out.
Pretty quickly actually.

After my last rotate when I was paying attention, because 2 on the right side that read 1/2 PSI high now became diagonal tires - 1 right turn and 1 left turn after stops - it had it correct.
ETA - And one backup turn out of the driveway.

It's a huge pet peeve. You have a maintenance mode, you have a screen, why can I not just....enable the maintenance modes on the screen? TPMS, oil change interval, brake service mode, ece should all be just one click options now. Also, why cant you display the trouble codes and WHAT THEY MEAN all on the screen? Buick did it 40 years ago!

It's never been an issue for me either. I don't know how it can be easier than that.

I’ve never had to do that after rotating tires. I’ve also never had to do that after switching over from summer to winter tires (my winter tires are mounted on separate bronco rims with their own tire pressure monitors)
Same with my 22. And even if it isn't the correct tire listed as low, you know one is and I'd check them all.
