My cv axles got the shakes at ~20K miles. As many others have I took the Mav into Ford and they replaced them no problem.
I am just under 40K now and can feel the slight bit of wobble coming on. Apparently the cv axles have a 20K mile clock.
A couple questions.
Has anyone taken their Mav back into Ford for another set of cv axles and how did that go?
Wasn't there some discussion about people putting tremor or after market cv axles on? Did anyone go that route?

At this point I would rather just pay my mechanic to put better ones on rather than deal with replacing regular Ford axles in another 20K miles

thanks for any advice

Tremor axles are only for the EcoBoost models.

If it were me, I'd get new ones under warranty and go from there.
I thought I read that tremor axles were longer because the tremor was an inch higher ?

If I ever need them I’m gonna ask ford if they will go into my stock height 2024 Eco Lariat.

I bet these guys lifting 2” will definitely need replacements.

On what date did you have them replaced the first time? It's a possibility that they were replaced with the original part number, and you didn't get the updated ones. It's hard to tell, since you don't have your model year in your profile or signature.

CV Axles are covered under warranty and late model 24s onward feature redesigned axles with a different part number. I have not heard of the redesigned ones causing issues, just people getting replacements before these new axles were introduced.

Just take the replacements and if they happen to fail down the line revisit the issue.

That makes sense that they'd be longer. I believe the way they line up with the transmission is also different from the hybrids.

All we know about the new CV axle for hybrid is that it is also longer. That’s it so far.

Tremor CV axle is not longer than a normal EB axle but it is a completely different internal design and a significant upgrade.

I don't remember the exact date of replacement but it was about 1 year+ ago. I have to call the Dealer to see what they installed; original or updated.
Does anyone know if the axles are covered beyond the basic 36000 mile warranty. I'm guessing there are because they are part of the drivetrain?

The newly designed axles only came out late last fall, so your replacements must have been the old design.
