Mine charged slow as well. That's why I quit using it. For me, it was a heat issue. Wireless charging uses electromagnetic induction with a byproduct of a lot of heat. Too much heat is bad for phone batteries. Your phone knows this and eventually slows down the charging rate to keep from cooking the battery. Add to this Android Auto, that makes more CPU heat, and a phone case that holds in that heat, and you eventually get slow charging. I use my phone at work, in construction, and I can't ditch the case. I just charge with USBC. That's one less heat source and I can keep the phone out where it can breathe. If you are heart set on wireless charging, maybe ditch the case while charging or find one of those wireless charging phone mounts where you can give your phone one of the AC vents.

might be the phone limiting the charge due to overheating. Inductive really isn't an ideal way to charge a phone at a high rate unless you have some type of cooling. Being that it's a flat charger and you have it in a case kind of aggravates the whole cooling issue to shorten the life of a battery.

My wireless, flat car charger works only sometimes, and when it does, it’s a trickle charge. Does anyone have this same problem? Will Ford fix it? I know I can use the charging ports with a cable but I don’t want to.
Thats Why I Made my own

Mine works okay, I guess. I haven't been on a long trip, yet, so haven't needed it. My Samsung is in a case, and I had to move it around to find the sweet spot, but it started charging.

Compared to wired connections, all wireless charging is very slow. But yeah, the one that was briefly in the Maverick got especially bad reviews. Probably part of why they pulled it, tbh.
Yes. They are useless.
I've never heard of these working well for anything but a phone warmer even in BMWs and Merecedes. The OEMs put them in because people want them, but they don't actually care enough to make sure they work.
I would agree 100%, I rarely ever use mine, I'm rarely ever in the truck long enough to need it and not really a big phone user to begin with. That whole area of my console is normally full of junk, napkins and snacks. That said, mine has always worked, just slow and did notice the phone would be a little warm.
Agreed

I never drive enough to need my phone recharge in my car.

My community driving is less than 5 minutes.

Last time I left home was Tuesday. Today is Saturday. I'm old and retired.

I can't tell if the wireless charger is good or not.
Same here [ old and retired ] I only drive about 5k a year, I never used the charger, am still thinking about [expensive] My 25 lariat don't have a kitchen sink but has everything else and was still 10k under the 50k average new car price. My first car was $25 in the 60s and you had to PUMP the brakes to stop, till I forgot to pump, that was expensive I save that from mowing lawns and pumping gas.

A lot of phone cases lift the electronics of the phone up high enough off the pad to make wireless charging problematic. You'll also want to center your phone on the charge pad front-to-back and side-to-side.

For my iPhone 16 I pushed it all the way forward, measured the resulting gap at the base of the phone, then 3-d printed a little bumper that was 1/2 the gap width and put it on the charge pad in the front.

Now when I plop my phone on the charge pad, I just push it all the way forward against the bump stop and it's centered. Works best there, though I do keep it in a case, so it can still be a little wonky. Out of the case charging it works fine.

You don't need a 3-d printer. A chunk of wood, plastic, cardboard or Styrofoam would work too.

🤔 How many layers of "plastic" are between the actual charger and your phone?
1. The plastic surrounding the charging element
2. The plastic of the console.
3. The plastic of the console liner.
4. You have the plastic of the phone cover.
5. And finally you have the thin plastic phone case itself. 😲
I think that's a lot to ask of the admittedly cheap wireless charger Ford installed.

I don't use mine since my phone and case do not fit. It seems to be less android and more apple with how skinny the slot is.

I have a wireless CarPlay connector (2022) so, having the wireless charger is convenient. Not using the charger would mean using a cable and thus defeat the idea of a wireless CarPlay. I haven't had any issues with the charger. Does its job, but I don't expect it to be super fast.
