I have a 2024 Lariat I physically have to connect a wire from my phone so my apps will sync with Android Auto, Ford tells me that you need a wire to connect to make Android Auto apps on your phone to show on your vehicle screen. I also went on my Google Pixel 8 pro settings. Is anybody having that issue and is there a way I can make my Android Auto wireless. Frank

Yes Frank,
You can make your Android wireless. By adding a plug-in device.
Units are sold on Amazon and eBay.

Per the manual, the Lariat does not have wireless android auto, so you would need to buy usb android auto wireless device to plug into the usb of the truck.
I did the equivalent with my iphone, got a usb device and now have wireless apple carplay

As other have already mentioned the 2024 Maverick does not have wireless Carplay/Android Auto. You can purchase an adapter that you plug into the USB port and then pair that adapter with your phone. There many different brands of adapters available. The Motorola MA1 is the only Android Auto adapter that is authorized by Google but plenty of the other brands work just as well.

Ratings are not that great on Amazon, but I have been using the smallest uposbos one sold on Amazon since Oct with a Pixel phone. Connects every time within 15 seconds of turning the ignition on, so far 100% connection reliability. I tried one like that Motorola MA1 first, but returned it because it was annoying having the receiver coming off a dongle.

So far, I’m using a cable, plug phone in this way. Benefit - charges phone same time when plugged in.

My Motorola MA1 is tucked behind the phone prop thingy in front of the console.
Not pretty, but it works fine for me. (Sorry for the big ass picture.)

My daughter has been using one of these since they came out a few years ago. The non-replaceable cable kinda sucks and it can be finicky sometimes. I recall an Android OS update a few years ago borked it for a few months. It still works though.

If I were buying one today, I'd probably buy the AAWireless 2.

I bought one of those today for my '22. On mine the USB port is closer to the driver so I can't position it like that. Now I'm just kicking around the idea of relocating the USB port.

Anyway so far it works great and set up really easily.

Hard for me to imagine a scenario where this smaller box that functions the same and plugs right in with no extension / dongle isn't a better solution though. The USB ports on this vehicle don't exactly feel robust, and don't need something hanging off them heavier than a USB cable in my opinion.

As others have said prior to the new 25's with Sync 4, you need a usbc to usbc cable or a wireless android auto dongle like the Motorola MA1 to get AA wirelessly.

Bad part with wireless is it uses up your battery while connected much faster.

I also tucked mine underneath but I also used a low profile L-shaped USB extension with a flat cable to make it look more seamless and cleaner.

One of the nicer features the Lariat offers a is wireless charging bin. My only intention here is to let others know that with the Lariat, one can use a wireless CarPlay/Android connector and still be able to charge the phone.
