I’m wondering if anyone can provide input to how the XL or XLT w/o Lux is during the winter? Both of these trim levels don’t have the heated mirrors, heated wiper blade area, rear window defrost and of course don’t have heated seats.

Do the side mirrors and windshield tend to build up more ice or snow while driving? Every vehicle I’ve owned had heated mirrors. I’m in Canada, so these things are handy.

Thanks in advance.

My XL did fine in the new england winter. Just used the app to start the truck with heat blasting 10-15 min before I leave each day. Although to be fair I've never had heated mirrors or wipers so I don't know what that's like.

I live in Colorado and although we may not get as much snow as Canada eh!, we do get pretty cold here. I also didn't get the LUX package because 99% of the items included in the Lux package I didn't want. I really only wanted the heated seats, mirrors and windshield. I couldn't see spending $4,000 for 3 heated items. The heated steering wheel I can also do without.

There have been a few posts, my self included, that have asked for a separate "Winter package", but I don't think Ford will do that. Odd, because they have one for the Ford Escape, which the Maverick was designed from.

I park in my garage, so it's been a non-issue not having heated mirrors. Even when out-and-about I never had an issue with icy or snowy mirrors. YMMV.

Ford won't do it because it's much more profitable to bundle it into a package with a bunch of other stuff that you wouldn't otherwise pay for. As one who also *only* wanted the "Winter package", I feel your pain.

Yeah, I understand, unfortunately.

I just feel let down because they offer it for the Escape. Why do it for one vehicle and not the other?

The other issue is simplifying manufacturing configurations, I'm sure. But I suspect since Escape is an overall higher profit margin vehicle than Maverick, the real driver is getting customers to add as much extra as possible. Sort of like Ford's stated intention to only build 15% of all Mavericks as XLs for MY23.

I got it for the opposite, I don’t need the heated crap but wanted all the other stuff.

We have heavy frost every morning where I'm at and doesn't get above freezing till mid afternoon if we are lucky. Never had heated mirrors till my current pickup. Honestly I rarely use them. I didn't even know heated wiper blade stuff was a thing till I ordered the Maverick. Never been an issue without them. I do however start my pickup, turn defroster on high, then go inside and get my coffee. Windshield is usually either clear, or wipers unstuck enough to hit the washer and melt everything off.

I have never had heated mirrors in any of my vehicles living in New England. Never had an issue.

It got down to high 30’s here the other morning. You know I used the heated steering wheel and seats. They work great!

Like a lot of things in life, you generally don't miss what you never had and that's as true for me as much as anyone. I know I'll miss the rear window defroster though and would gladly trade heated mirrors for that, spoiled I guess. Wasting 10 or more minutes of $4 gas to prove these features are pointless is just, well y'all know what that is.
Never had heated wipers but I've banged enough ice clumped wipers against the windshield to know that I'll really really miss that exercise. I especially like it when the wipers are frozen solid to the glass, good times.

I thought I was gonna have heated seats LAST winter. Now I'm converted.
