Mine Will......just wondering if this is normal.

Can you put it in gear? If not.... then yeah, your in accessory mode.Mine Will......just wondering if this is normal.
MY24 XLT with key start will. HB goes to run and ICE engages if needed. But need to press brake pedal to put into gear. Auto-hold is also engaged.Mine Will......just wondering if this is normal.
What trim? 2023 XL and XLT require you to physically insert and turn the key. No need to put your foot on the brake pedal to start it, just flick the key to Start, let it return to Run, and the vehicle is running.Mine Will......just wondering if this is normal.
Thanks. I have an XL and that is what it does. It makes sense that it will because of key turn instead of button press. What trim? 2023 XL and XLT require you to physically insert and turn the key. 2023 Lariat has push-button start, requiring you to depress the brake pedal to start it. As noted above, pressing the start button with no foot on brake is equivalent to turning a key to Accessory, not Run.
Exactly. People think the vehicle in on. Now try to put it in Drive. You're in accessory mode.
Do you get a "Ready" light with just the key turned? I thought Federal requirements now stipulated that the brake pedal has to be depressed in order to start.

Considering the key can turn all the way to On, and then beyond to Start - it is NOT just Accessory mode.Exactly. People think the vehicle in on. Now try to put it in Drive.
For as long as I can recall that has been the case - late 80's.Do you get a "Ready" light with just the key turned? I thought Federal requirements now stipulated that the brake pedal has to be depressed in order to start.
I am thinking that the gear shift interlock probably took away the requirement for a foot on the brake when starting the vehicle. For as long as I can recall that has been the case - late 80's.
Way before now.
I was surprised first time my habit of pressing the brake was NOT done but still allowed complete start and ready and ICE running in winter.
Perhaps the requirement has actually been dropped now. Or in certain cases. Or Ford made a mistake.
Hmmm - which is more likely?
