Sure - go for it! (Good luck convincing anyone who wants a hybrid that they should get an EcoBoost instead…)
#1 I am getting my maverick this year after just ordering 3 months ago..starting production today
#2 I am going to keep this truck for 20 plus years and hybrid technology is too expensive too maintain for long durations
#3 After the warranty, i will do all my repairs so and eco boost is just another combustion engine
#4 The Front wheel drive Ecoboost gets upper 30s on the highway with a tonneau cover
#5 Many mechanics cannot work on hybrids if I need repairs

#1. Good for you!
#2. Maybe, maybe not. It depends on mileage and other factors. Many examples of 250,000+ miles on hybrids with original HV battery and transmission. Ecoboost force fed turbo engines are known for problems. Much more frequent oil changes required (oil dilution) as compared to hybrid, and coking of intake valves on GDI turbo spells extra maintenance and trouble. Ford 8 speed torque converter transmission is....meh, at best. eCVT hybrid is robust and simple.
#3. The ICE in a hybrid is just that, an ICE. Albeit, Atkinson cycle. No biggie.
#4. Ok. Upper 30's? Hmmm.
#5. And many mechanics CAN work on hybrids if you need repairs.

We all buy what we want for the reasons we have. Good luck with your Ecoboost.

For those who previously owned full-sized trucks, the Eco may be preferred because it can be configured to be more "truck-like" (AWD, 4K Tow, etc.), yet still delivers fuel efficiency unheard of in the "full-size" world.

For those who have NOT owned full-size trucks because of their poor fuel efficiency, the Hybrid is a compelling platform. Mileage competitive with hybrid SUVs, real-world usable cab space, and the ability to haul "stuff" when needed.

Either way, the Maverick is a great little truck entering the market at exactly the right time.

Now if Ford could just deliver them!

Where did the myth that hybrids are less reliable than conventional ICE vehicles come from? It certainly is not based on data, and the 2.5L atkinson hybrid powerplant actually has a longer and more robust history of reliability than the 2L ecoboost.

It's odd to me that we've had hybrids for 25+ years now, plenty of time to gather relevant long-term data, and there are people still afraid of the technology.

There are many valid reasons to get the ecoboost over the hybrid, long-term reliability and maintenance cost is not (based on available objective data) one of them.

Likely from the same place that created the myth (110 years ago) that horses were better and safer than automobiles.

Just like any kind of change people are afraid of the hybrid for a number of reasons. Battery life, and because they perceive it as being, as you said, very complex. Some people are just outright afraid of technology, of any kind, and they see something with less of it as being better, even if it is not remotely true. Finally, for people who like to work on their own vehicle, DYI on a hybrid can be expensive, because you need high end scan tools for some jobs. That and in some cases more than basic knowledge of electronics.

The first two are not real world problems in most cases. Most users have no issues with battery life, and there are plenty of hybrids on the road that are 10-20 years old still on the road, many of which are still on the original batteries. The Maverick is a great example of this, most of the issues with the hybrid Maverick have been with a poorly manufactured wire harness, and junky 12v batteries, rather than issues with the mechanical parts that make up the hybrid system. It's very rare to see a failed electric motor, or failed eCVT. Do some fail? Yes. Then again there are plenty of EB posts about failed 8 speed transmissions too.

I am always reminded of my dad who bought a 1959 Fairlane with roll-up windows, because electric windows would fail. Love my (2nd) C-Max Hybrid and will love my Maverick eventually. And I'm 74.
Until a lot more advancement is made in battery size and charging time/locations, I see the hybrid technology as the best of both worlds.

Small trips are awesome on a warm engine.

I'm in my 70's and I embrace new technology. I've never owned a hybrid and fully expect gas prices to rise substantially. I trust the technology and I'm looking forward to playing with all of the aspects of hybrid driving. I'm ready to downsize from my F150 and get something that will be comfortable, get great fuel economy, and can haul a little stuff when needed. If my first-day-ordered Lariat doesn't look like it will make the cut I will probably switch to Eco because I will need a vehicle fairly soon.

Economy and size wise it was the closest new replacement for my 4 cylinder 5 speed 96 S-10.

When I eventually get my truck, I'd like to be ready to catch those after trip displays, as you did.

When it comes up, how long does it stay up for? Presumably it comes up when you turn the ignition off, correct?

Yep, the Trip Summary displays when you shut off the vehicle, and basically stays there until you open the door (or your passenger does). Easy to grab a snapshot after you park. I usually have my phone in hand by that time anyway...

Grabbed this one several days ago:
