It would not matter how you designed anything. You will never please everyone.

I find my hand naturally falls in the right place on this, and it just works. It seems a good design to me.
If it was the other way around you would have to twist your wrist to close the door. This is the better way to do it for sure.

We certainly will complain about anything.
I'm a little stunned people on these forums complain about things like this door handle, or the rotary dial. If these forums existed back in the 60s, 70s, 80s even the 1990s, 75% of the people here a few years into their ownership experience would be talking about how they just had their third transmission installed, or how many pistons they would have already replaced.

These days, it's, the cars never had an issue, but the touchscreen is sometimes slow to respond. Then everyone in the YouTube comments section talks about how crappy modern cars are, and longs for "The good old days". I seriously saw a video on like a 2014 escape with 180k miles on it, and the only issue they'd ever had was replacing the tailgate lift sensor. People in the comments were non-ironically saying Fix Or Repair Daily, it's insane.

People complained about this same issue on the Sport Trac....but I also own that truck too ! So....I don't seem to mind 😂
I love parking my Tremor next to old Sport Tracs. When I picked up my tonneau cover from the dealership one of the salesman was driving a (pretty beat up) SportTrac they just took on trade and we both stopped and he was excited to see a Tremor and I was excited to see the SportTrac.

Maybe the OP should try reversing the handles.

I do not have any issue with the way the handle is.

What I do like is how perfectly the arm rest on the door is positioned for me. I also like that it is not too firm. Very comfortable in my opinion.
