I agree with Curtis b as there are numerous opinions. Some say right after break in to get the metals out, others say leave break in oil in as it's designed to do that and the filter takes out the metals and go to 5000 miles, others do it at 500 then 1000 then 3500 then start the 5k or six months, others use the oil life indicator. I have the Ecoboost and will do my first change around 3500-4000 miles or six months from day I bought it, whichever comes first. You have the hybrid so probably can go longer. I'm a 5k 6 month guy. But In the last thirty years I have never gotten to 5k before the six months were up, so I guess I'm a 6 month guy 😂
I agree with 6 month guy! 3 to 4k should be good 👍 then every 5k or 6 months. That's what I will do with my 24 Lariat TREMOR 2.0 I'm only at 700 miles!!

I have always done 1000 miles on every new vehicle I have purchased and will do the same when my Maverick comes in. Cheep insurance......... On my Edge and Escape (both Ford Certified EB's) I just waited till oil life got to around 15% to make appointment, even though I do a lot of towing in the winter (snowmobile trailer). I do check the oil level and color every 1500 miles or so. The 15% would normally puts the miles at 9000 to 9500.

As soon as you bought any vehicle and put about 1k miles, you should spend the $600 to $800 on changing out ALL the fluids including the RDU and PTU if applicable. Here in Arizona my cost was $750 to have all this done with my 2022 EB AWD. This sets the benchmark for me and I never trust the factory

I changed mine yesterday at 2k miles. Some pretty rank looking oil for so few miles. Assembly junk and such in it I guess. Will do it again at 5k, then every 5k after..

Hey guys, I am coming up on 4000 miles (3700 ish per ford app) when should I be doing my first oil change. The sticker in the window says first service 5000. But I am seeing people doing it way sooner than where I'm at. Fordpass puts oil life at 78% should I hold out and change it at 0% or do I risk undue wear from break in on the engine?
I'm going to avoid giving my opinion on the question and jump to something not frequently mentioned.

If this is your first hybrid, be aware there is hybrid specific oil in 0w-20 weight. Hybrid specific oil is formulated to take into account that the hybrid ICE runs cooler more often.

This allows moisture to build up in the crankcase. My dealer admitted they don't use it, they use a synthetic blend, cheaper than full syn and hybrid specific. That is why I change my own oil plus I use a larger Motorcraft 910S filter.

I'm doing my first one Thursday. Should be around 1300-1400 miles by then. I'm taking a trip next weekend, and I'd prefer to have that stuff out of my car. I'll commence to the 5K intervals after that.

With the engine oil also lubricating the turbo, I think that a 5K interval makes sense.
Pretty much exactly my use case scenario

I agree with the "change all the fluids" sentiment. With a little Youtube university training you can accomplish this easily. I kind of doubt that dealer service depts or private shops are assigning these tasks to a veteran mechanic. Saves quite a bit of 💰and you can do it again whenever you want.

It's like asking, "When should I get a haircut?"
Imagine losing use of your legs after not cutting your hair for 20 years.

2023 hybrid Mav. I did my first oil change at 2500 miles using
Motorcraft 0w-20. I did my second oil change at 6000 miles using Mobil 1 hybrid 0w-20 oil. Will most likely continue using Mobil 1 hybrid oil every 5000 miles. 910S Motorcraft oil filter also.

Much said about this. My 2 cents. What I did. Drove to approx 1500 miles, pulled oil sample, sent to lab. Got report. Yep, some metals, silicone from gasket, sealant stuff.
Got oil n filter changed. Put in blended oil this go around. Plan 3k-4K miles, do another oil sample. If better numbers, switch to full syn, keep rolling.
