What is it?

Just noticed a small round dot with a center stem on the inside lower passenger side of the windshield, what is it?
Auto wiper rain sensor, headlight auto dim, alien space ship detector, Ford or Government tracking device, just what the heck is it? Does your Maverick have one?

Is the center stalk/dot simply a black dot on the glass? Or is it an actual black "spike" attached to the dash reaching up to the glass? If the black dot is attached to the dash, I wonder if it is something as simple as a reference point for installing the windshield. They center the glass so that the black dot is centered in the circle.

Sort of morbid, but sort of like how some targeted radiation cancer treatments involve the patient having a black dot tattooed on them so the radiation beam can be very precisely directed for each treatment.

Metal based stickers over the entire truck seems to be the wise choice with all the paint issues we keep hearing about.

I will go on an educated guess, having had an Escape, that it is the spot to line up the windshield wipers to park if you ever have to remove the armature from the gearbox. The escape had lines top and bottom of where to install them notched out of the black in the windshield.
