When we got the Maverick in January, the wife asked what that button was for. I said that I did not know. Look at manual and could not find anything. So we did not think about it anymore.
I am glad that someone ask and now we all know what the button is for.
Thank you

Don't forget to take it off of you go through an automatic carwash... I felt like an idiot when I put it in neutral and the truck wouldn't move.... Lol.

Something just clicked regarding this function when someone mentioned they liked creeping. I like the ability too.

Do a lot of later vehicles models have this option?

I've always wondered why around here people are leaving 1 to 3 car lengths between them and the vehicle in front at a red light. Lefts and straight. We have right turn on red, they don't seem to do it in right turn lane.

So stupid to cause so many fewer cars to make it thru a timed red light.
They don't creep closer after the car behind them comes in, as if it was a safety thing.
They don't creep forward like they are watching the light sequence and tighten it up for going on green.
They leave the space, and pause just as much as normal - even when I see they are looking and not distracted by phone (though probably half are though).

This option just made me realize - maybe they have this enabled, stopped short, and then don't feel comfortable tapping on the gas to get a more appropriate distance, because their normal gas pedal press is more than gentle, and they are sure they would hit the car in front attempting to tighten it up.
And maybe didn't have the skill to brake correctly in the 1st place to land better.
With so many doing jack-rabbit starts and racing corner braking - maybe just a skill on the pedal thing, ignorant of better ways.

Some day I will pull around and easily squeeze in if I can figure out I can make it.
Or maybe I'll just take an unnecessary left turn to make a point.

Far more likely they have their heads buried in their smartphones and aren't paying any attention to whether or not they could make a turn.

People creeping into the person's bumper is why 5 or 6 cars get damaged when someone gets rear-ended.

I love the auto hold and if I get rear-ended I do not have to worry about my foot slipping off the brake pedal and creeping into the person ahead of me

Speaking only for myself here, but...

Regardless of where I am in line at a light, I already know where I want to stop, relative to everything else. If I'm first in line, I pull to where I can see cross traffic, and/or to where the line on the pavement is. I rarely need to adjust, but obviously sometimes there's pedestrians or some jackhole in a ginormous SUV that is halfway out in the intersection blocking sight lines. Same for stopping behind someone if I'm further back in line... I already know how much clearance to the vehicle ahead I want, and I stop accordingly.

I appreciate you giving people the benefit of the doubt, but I think many are just impatient and bored, and feel like inching up a foot or two every 10 seconds at a light equates to "progress." Frankly those people are a pain in the ass, auto-hold or not. :)

Do I need to push the button to ON for it function or is that automatic as well?
I leave mine "on" all the time. The only time I disable it is when I am going through an automatic carwash. Learned this the hard way.

Rarely use mine. I like the ability of slowly pulling into a parking spot and moving up little at a time. This forces you to press the gas to move. Sometimes I'll use it, but not often.

My F150 has it as well, but needs to be done with the NAV screen. It's off as well.

I'm amazed at how few people actually look stuff up in their manuals. Many topics brought up in this club are readily answered there.
Yup, it's all in the manual. I actually think that's why they print those!

The manual for my 24 XLT Eco ‘splained’ everything to me, but I read it! 🧐
