What is an "INFRACTION GIVEN?" [ADMIN ANSWER: NO POLITICS!]

A thread I follow says LOCKED and INFRACTION GIVEN.
No explanation. Am I a bad boy? Does this go on my Permanent Record? Do I need to just lurk and not post?

My guess is they do this when an admin takes action against posts in the thread to make sure another admin doesn't come behind and accidently punish someone a 2nd time for the same offense.

Could be wrong but just speculating.

If you get an infraction, you will get it directly. So, there is little confusion.

As for your "permanent record" I don't see my lone "politics" infraction from over a year ago. So, they could expire. I know with other forums I've been in, infractions had different durations depending on the infraction. I would imagine "discussing politics" would be a slap on the wrist when compared to hate speech for example.

If you get personal infraction notices totaling a certain number (I don't know how many) you will be Banned.

I agree. My lone infraction was a statement that I disagreed was political, but it wasn't worth the argument with the Admins. Politics can destroy a forum so I understand the hard response.

I have a sure fire way to tell exactly which way it was intended, too.

If the person who said it seems like the kind of person who would agree with me, then they said it with no ill will intended, nor have they any malace in their heart.

But if the person who said it seems like one of those other kind of "guys", you know who they are, they obviously meant harm by it, are trying to kick sand in my face, and it's my job to expose them for the puppy kicking, grandma haters they truly are.

I've been using this tool since I came online years ago, and not one person has been able to prove I'm wrong. Some try, but they're all stupid idiots!

Respected? No. That's why it's best to just not bring them up.

Extreme example: someone may have the view that different races shouldn't marry. I (and hopefully most!) have zero respect for that. So best to just not bring it up.

with all due respect, the moderation is very low which usually is fine... but I think it's too slow when a thread first starts spiraling into politics. there are quite a few threads that have useful information that get locked after dozens of replies with politics, and if the hammer came down on the first 1-3 political replies we could have continued with a productive discussion.

plus, either people would learn to not talk about politics, or they're going to get banned faster for it.
