I did 7.5% with the dealership using Capital One so it was an easier transaction and one less thing to argue about. I don't think they were happy when I paid the loan off 4 days later. They got $16.51 interest to divide up with the bank and a lot of wasted time and paperwork. I guess in my mind anyway that made the 4 hour battle worth it for principle anyway and the $299 tint upcharge worth 1/3 of that. It was the only card in my hand considering 2 others were sitting there waiting to see if my deal fell through. Apparently cash isn't the best option anymore.

Dealer didn't care, they don't make money on the loan interest. They get perks closing the deal. From there it becomes a financial institution issue.

For every one of you who does this, there are 900 who refinance an upside down vehicle into a new loan for 84 months. Basically a glorified lease.

You are a loss-leader as far as the bank is concerned.

My credit union was giving me 5.75. I told the dealership they had to beat my credit union in order for me to get finance with them. They asked what it was and I didn't tell them. I wanted for them to give me their best offer. I got 3.9 from Ford credit. I was happy with that
Was this recently that you got 3.9 from Ford credit? Maybe you had some sort of price protection where they gave you that rate?

I'm sure. I suppose it was more just based on principle for me lol. Big picture it was probably irrelevent.

I picked up my Maverick a month and a half ago (Dec. 06). I had intended to write a check but the finance lady at Granger Ford asked me if I wanted 0% for 36 months. I took that option.

Maybe it's an advantage to at least make them think you're planning to pay cash, then see what they offer you at the last second?

Edit to add: I just realized I did pretty well on my Maverick purchase: $3K off MSRP and 0% financing. Nice!

My advice has always been to get a guaranteed finance offer first, and if you can, use a credit union. They often have better rates than regular banks. If not, check with any bank/financial institution you have history with. Or if you are lucky, check to see if your employer has a financing benefit with a partner company (these may offer a better interest rate for many people).

Interesting, I'll keep an eye out to see if it changes for me. As of now there is still a code in my file for rate lock and my dealer seems to be honoring that... at least at the moment.
If I remember correctly ford did say the only mav's that would have rate protection are delivered 22's and rollover is considered a new order and any protection is not valid for a 23 reorder they would give reorder the private offer for the price increase... But no rate lock in... If u get that rate it's on ur dealership side... But I highly doubt they will want to cover the loss with the new rates that are available now... Cuz I'd assume the difference would come out or their pockets...

My dealership salesman told me 550 for the sprayeding bed liner and 170 for the front driver and passenger windows tinted I asked them to have done once the truck gets in

Didn't know you could get above an 850 ever. TIL.
TransUnion goes to 900 apparently. The dealer gives you a form showing you your credit score when you apply for financing. I believe they are legally required to provide it to you.

Edit: Should clarify the salesman said they were required to share my score with me. Not sure if it's a legal requirement or something the rating agencies require.
