It doesn't seem to stop the window from rolling up or down like it implies. What does this do?

It locks the window switches for the other seats. Back seat for sure, and I assume also passenger seat.

So it locks the rear window control FROM the rear.
Thank you.
Think of it like the child door lock. If enabled, a "kid" can't roll down the window and jump out at freeway speeds. Similar to the child door lock where they can't open the door and jump out at freeway speeds.

Yeah I had a Taurus that you could only put the rear windows half way down.
I guess to prevent kids from jumping out.
Hated that.
I guess this is better.

This usually is not for safety. Usually it's because the shape of the door. Due to the rear wheel well intrusion the window will not fit all the way into the rear door.

I've had dogs that would step on the buttons and roll the windows down. Not so much a problem in the Maverick, but it sure was a problem in my regular cab Ram that didn't have that locking button. 😫

You’ve had your truck for a year and don’t know what that button does? 🤔 RTFM

Never cared - until I was waiting for someone at a hospital - after about an hour waiting in my truck I began exploring some of the controls.
I also just discovered I can change the radio station and volume on the steering wheel.
Nice cause I always have to hit the screen
2 or 3 times before it changed stations.
I bought a bare bones XL - I could not care less about most things on it other than the gas pedal and brake.
My God, you read the manual?
Nor did I read my electric can opener or toaster manual.
They work fine.
This was the first question I had about it's controls.
