What changes to Maverick engineering would you like for the next evolution?

Of COURSE an available 6' minimum bed length via shortened passenger cab that just has front seats and a small space behind them.
Actually, if they hadn't stuffed a bunch of crap behind the rear seat back, they could have engineered a passthrough similar to the Subaru Baja, and if they made it something like 50" wide for the typical 4x8 panels of material, (which I think would be possible on the Maverick, unlike the Baja, as the wheels are farther back on the former) that would be perfect.

A pass-thru = structural changes, new crash & rollover certification. Likely impossible without a permanent truckbed rollbar for structural rollover rigidity.
Then there's relocating electronic controllers from the back wall, water ingress protection, etc.

Replacing the rear glass with a reinforced pass-through large sliding window could be done pretty cost effectively.

I'd be happy with a 2' square opening. It wouldn't have to mean any complicated engineering changes and would have been handy for a lot of things.
I've hauled 4'x8' items with no problems and have a hitch extender (or, bed extender) for special stuff.
I could see the Mav as a mini Suburban someday. Or, a SuperCab with a longer bed .

My prediction: The first time someone has an accident and is impaled or crushed by something from the bed sliding though the opening, Ford will held liable in a lawsuit.

A 'Pass Through' would be high on my last too.

There have been some signs that Ford is working on a midgate passthrough for the next generation Maverick. They filed a patent last year so it's something we might see for the rumored 2nd gen Maverick in 2028. Obviously it's not definite, just because they filed for the patent does not mean it's going to happen. But that is a good sign that it's a strong possibility.

A smaller engine and larger battery would be useful in the Hybrid, just like Toyota has done in its models. Maybe a non-turbo Atkinson-cycle 1.0L without Ford's stupid wet-belt oilpump mis-design. That should be good for abother 10mpg and the same torque as the current design.

Also get rid of the broken BMS system that causes 12V batteries to constantly fail.
