Good thing you didn't grab hold of another poster's plan of driving through the showroom wall!

Ok folks, I got a call from the sales manager at Long Lewis Ford in Hoover Alabama. He was very apologetic and admitted that the dealer made some errors in handling my order. I will not type all of the things that created more complications in them processing my Maverick when it was delivered to them. One problem was my sales rep was no longer there, apparently my order was put in after they cut off orders last year and it was a replacement order for another that fwll through. There were other complicating factors that all sounded legit and possible. Despite those complicating factors, the dealership took full responsibility for their failure to contact me when my order was delivered. It was entered into stock and sold as i did not show up as the assigned party to that vehicle. The manager was very apologetic and offered me a similar Maverick with my fx4 and tow package, but with the luxury package upgrade and a different color. He offered it to me without charging me for the luxury package upgrade. Its cactus grey, i can live with it, but preferred my Carbonized grey. I appreciate them admitting fault and coming up with a solution. They made a great compromise by offering me a similar product and not charging me for the luxury package upgrade, to get me back closer to my original price. I feel like Long Lewis Ford in Hoover Alabama did their best to make this right and i am very relieved with the solution. I greatly appreciate all of the help that you guys and girls have provided in helping me get this situation resolved!

I hope you got the dealership to change their process so others can avoid this complete cluster fukc. I was on my dealership to get updates and finally got delivery of a 2023 , 594 days after my original 2022 order

It surprises me the number of people who see that their order shipped and are not compulsively tracking it to the dealer. Dealers have a long history of shady shit and I wouldn't trust them with anything of substance. I thankfully had a good experience but I also stayed on top of my dealers through the whole process. I saw when that my truck was being delivered that day, I immediately left work, went to the bank, and went to the dealership. I didn't give them a chance to sale it out from under me.
That is just about what I did. For the 7 months of waiting to be picked for production, I didn’t bother the dealer and I didn’t hear from them either. No problem, I don’t need any hand holding.

But once my Maverick was produced and shipped, I started contacting my sales person regularly. My reason was to make it less likely for my Maverick to be “accidentally” sold to someone else.

But of course, I never said that to the dealer. I tracked the rail shipment on my own. I said things like “I’m so excited”. “Can you give me the rail car number?” "Where is it now?" “Can’t wait until it is here.” “When will PDI be done?” “When will the PDI be done, and what time is the soonest I can pick up my truck?” And you’d better believe, I was there a few minutes before the agreed upon earliest pick up time.

By then, they were very aware that I was aware. And to their credit, they stuck to the agreed price and didn’t apply any mandatory add ons. Just a pitch for extended warranty, which I was expecting and which I declined. There was at least one person physically present waiting to buy the truck in case I walked away from the deal.

Unfortunately it is too late for OP, but my advice to anyone with a Maverick order is this: Do not rely on the dealer to contact you. Keep in touch with Ford chat. Check the production status yourself. When it is built, track the rail car yourself. At that point, start contacting your dealer frequently and make sure to pick up your Maverick on the first day (preferably the first hour) it is ready for you.

Most dealers are honest. But if you get a scummy individual, or even bad dealership management, don’t make it easy for them to sell your long awaited truck to someone else for a marked up price.

I wonder that too. I'm sure it probably has a green window sticker. Be interesting to know that story.
For many reasons, lots of people are walking away from their Maverick orders. Couldn’t wait any longer and had to buy something else. Higher interest rates. Ordered more than one, and now they already have one. Financial situation changed for the worse.

I bet they sold it out from under me. I was never contacted on delivery to the dealership. What recourse would i have against them if they did? I put $500 down when i ordered it
GO THERE IN PERSON and ask

Sounds like a decent resolution to their mistake. If they had done it on purpose, they likely would have just told you to pound sand. I’m glad you ended up with a Maverick, even if it wasn’t exactly what you ordered at least you got a slight discount.

It was the same thing i ordered, different color, but with a luxury package, which i did not originally order on mine. I am essentially getting what i ordered at my price with a free luxury package upgrade, their effort to make up for their original error and get me in a Maverick now
Take it and run!

So did you actually place your order during the order window and they forgot to put it in or you were too late and they just gave you someone's order that had already backed out? If it's the latter, then they really did you a solid to throw that stuff in for free.

I read all this with interest-I lost my order too. The appeal of the huge profit to be made over MSRP is just too great for some dealers. When we ordered, last year,we were guaranteed sale at MSRP where they still make a decent profit, but nothing like selling for $8-10K over MSRP which is what they are going for-mine sold in 3 days.I emailed Ford but they cant help -the dealers are independent is the standard reply with almost any dealer problem.
but I was lucky-able to buy a EB AWD instead of the ordered hybrid--for $25.700 out the door-reported this on forum earlier--I got great discounts inclining a $1000 military discount
Note: any vet can still get a $500 mil discount from Ford, not the dealer

That is good to hear that a good resolution came. Wonder how they have an extra one to offer...
Plenty of people are walking. My own dealership has some "retail" orders that are now stock.

Not true:
"This Military Bonus Cash Incentive is only available to active military personnel and those within 2 years of separation. Since your separation date is over 2 years you unfortunately do not qualify for this incentive."
