Utility Trailer advice -- wood or mesh floor pros/cons?

Was thinking about getting a small utility trailer from tractor supply. They are available with a wood or mesh floor. What are the pros and cons of each? Using it for dump runs moving my lawn tractor around stuff like that. Thanks

Wood is Saturday, less likely to flex. Also as a mesh will get banged up and start to corrode.

Mesh is lighter, probably cheaper. Heavy use is get wood. Light use mesh. Also the folding utility trailers are pretty cool if storage space is a concern.

Mesh will rust, and wood is replaceable but a lil heavier. I got a wood one from Home Depot couple weeks ago. Has a ramp, fold down sides and front. 5x8 but really 7x9 with the sides down. Cost $1700 on island which is cheap as hell here. I've been happ with it so far. Its rated at 1600lb capacity.

Cant haul wood chips or dirt on a mesh floor. Must have something solid like wood that the small things cant fall thru . Some trailers even have metal floors. If all your gonna haul is a lawn mower or ATVs then mesh is fine.

I can have it either way....10 years ago I bought a 4x8 mesh trailer. I bought a treated 3/4"x 4x8 sheet of plywood for it, fits perfectly. Wood is still good.

You'll lose a little capacity, but after buying a mesh trailer, my answer is wood. Carry-On NextGen trailers are pretty decent and won't break the bank.

Thanks I was looking towards wood. Going from a full size F 150 to the Mav this will fill in that void and more.

I've got this Carry-On trailer from Tractor Supply. Have pulled it with a Honda CR-V and a FORD Transit Connect, and plan to pull it with the Maverick whenever it finally shows up. It's worked well.

I went with a Floe cargo max trailer. Weight is 290lbs empty and can haul 1800. It’s semi or full tilt for easy load or dumping a load of mulch. It has videos on line but the polymer shell is almost indestructible. They had large tractors squash it and it pops right back into shape
bought this when I had a CR-V as it had 1500 max tow. Can’t even feel it behind the maverick!

Hmm, I picked mine up at Lowe's and took the receipt and title to the DMV.

My advice, buy a quality trailer that will last a lifetime vs a trailer from Tractor Supply, Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.

There will come a time when you are glad you did.

Carry ON trailers are really cheap trailers. That being said, they are great but don't hold up to a lot of abuse. I would get the 5.5x10, 6x8 or 6x10 trailer. The mesh trailers are garbage. I have a Suretrac 7x12 that I will be pulling with my hybrid. weight wise, it will push the 2k limits but I'm oka with that. You're welcome to check it out to gauge what you'd want since you're in NJ

LOL, that’s exactly what I was talking about. I have (3) Suretrac trailers I purchased from BestChoiceTrailers . I have a like new 14k 14’ dump, a brand new unused 18’ 10k utility trailer I had them special build for me with 2’ mesh sides, (11) D rings, relocated spare mount, etc. and the most recent I purchased this summer for my Maverick Hybrid, a 7x10 utility. Its a 3500lb trailer and weighs ~1000 lbs dry so I have another ~1000 capacity with the Maverick.

SureTrac are super heavy duty and are some of the best trailers available and will last a lifetime.

There are other high-quality trailers available depending where you live.

Not once in my life have I been sorry for buying the best, but I’ve been sorry too many time for initially going the cheap route only to have problems and ultimately buy again.
