Utility Trailer advice -- wood or mesh floor pros/cons?

LOL, that’s exactly what I was talking about. I have (3) Suretrac trailers I purchased from BestChoiceTrailers . I have a like new 14k 14’ dump, a brand new unused 18’ 10k utility trailer I had them special build for me with 2’ mesh sides, (11) D rings, relocated spare mount, etc. and the most recent I purchased this summer for my Maverick Hybrid, a 7x10 utility. Its a 3500lb trailer and weighs ~1000 lbs dry so I have another ~1000 capacity with the Maverick.

SureTrac are super heady duty and are some of the best trailers available and will last a lifetime.

There are other high-quality trailers available depending where you live. Not once in my life have I been sorry for buying the best, but I’ve been sorry too many time for initially going the cheap route only to have problems and ultimately buy again.

I agree with you although even Sure Trac has fallen off a little. I've had 20' car trailer that was built well. My 16' utility is okay but my previous one was built a little better. Still the 16' is way better than Carry-On. I do have a Carry-On dump that I use. I scaled down from a Suretrac 7x14x4 dump last year. I only use the dump for stone and leaves now. I don't need a tank so the Carry-On should hold up.

If you go mesh, make sure if it's a drop ramp style that the ramp can be removed. They are useless if you ever needed a pallet of something driven into it.

Carry ON trailers are really cheap trailers. That being said, they are great but don't hold up to a lot of abuse. I would get the 5.5x10, 6x8 or 6x10 trailer. The mesh trailers are garbage. I have a Suretrac 7x12 that I will be pulling with my hybrid. weight wise, it will push the 2k limits but I'm oka with that. You're welcome to check it out to gauge what you'd want since you're in NJ

I had a loadstar atv trailer but I sold it galvanized. The ramps were on the side. Don't see them anymore. Probably should have kept it. The suretracs are very pricey. Just looking for occasional use. Not much stock anywhere around here in NJ. Maybe have more in the spring.

I went with a Floe cargo max trailer. Weight is 290lbs empty and can haul 1800. It’s semi or full tilt for easy load or dumping a load of mulch. It has videos on line but the polymer shell is almost indestructible. They had large tractors squash it and it pops right back into shape
bought this when I had a CR-V as it had 1500 max tow. Can’t even feel it behind the maverick!

I've been looking at those too. Haven't pulled the trigger on one yet though but I've never heard anybody say anything bad about them and they look perfect for my hybrid. The 9.5x73 will fit my old Kubota B7200 which is the biggest thing I think I would haul with it.

I had an 18-foot wood-deck trailer that I used to haul my heavy (6000-lb) tractor. I had to replace the deck boards twice in 10 years (and those 18-ft 2" boards are NOT cheap!), and when I sold it, a couple of the boards were already getting pretty bad. I told myself if I ever get another one, it will be an aluminum mesh deck (to avoid the rusting mesh issue...

Then I saw a post about the Floe "CargoMax" trailers with the "Ultra Body" bed, walls, and fenders, and have convinced myself that this composite "body" is THE way to go. If I ever need a trailer again, it will be one of those.

Stanley the Dirt Monkey did a really good video on them with the owner on YT. It was impressive.
