After watching Refined Truck's video on the installation of both of their light kits, I decided to get the longer (34.5cm or a little over 13.5") and add an LED strip to the top. I'm all about going cheap and couldn't justify spending $80.00 on a kit I could get for $22.00 and an LED light strip for $15.00. T-taps were $7.00, wire was $11.00 and heat shrink was $10.00. So, for a total of about $65.00, I have both LED's installed and they look pretty good I think. They come on any time the low beams are on (running and DRL). Installation was not too bad since I had done the lower ones already and the top LED was a cakewalk.

I like the longer bars myself. This feels more deliberate and not like a bolt on product. Good job!

Those lights across the bar look awesome! Really well done! I'm undecided on the top strip but don't hate it. Just curious how it would look with the center bar alone.
Either way, great job!

I forgot to mention that the lower 2 LEDs are also amber sequential turn and hazard lights. My son was in a hurry to meet up with some friends, so I forgot to show that in the video.

Love the look of the grill lights but think I’ll wait awhile to see how they hold up before I drill a hole in my grill. Don’t take Amazon reviews super serious, but these sound like they lack in the quality department.

On the XL and XLT, the low beams are DRLs. I just tapped the hot wire (red) into the low beam/DRL on the headlight connector, turn signal (yellow) into the turn signal connector and ground (black) to chassis ground. I wired them as follows:

Driver side:
red on LED to Brown/blue on headlight
black on LED to black on headlight (or chassis ground)
yellow on LED to yellow on turn signal

Passenger side:
red on LED to blue/green on headlight
black on LED to black/green on headlight (or chassis ground)
yellow on LED to blue/white on turn signal

I hope this helps clear it up for you.

You can also change which lights are used for DRL with Forscan. XL/XLT owners with switchbacks installed have set it to the turn signal markers which shows white. On the Lariat it uses the accent lighting by default, but I have mine set to use the low-beams as well so it consistently gives the full surround effect.

Is this the option “Using low beams with DRL” in ForScan?

Ah, I see from this thread that it was only temporarily working for the XL/XLT. Although I wonder if the XL/XLT should be able to use the Lariat light settings? (I don't recall the specific setting names/configuration off the top of my head) Or maybe since the BCM doesn't detect a functioning accent light circuit that's causing it to failsafe revert to the low beams.
