Well I have officially joined the club of power drain issues. My 2023 Mac hybrid battery is dying within 24 hours of being parked even after long drives. Took it to the dealer to try the ssm 53801 fix which they did and said my battery was fine on load test. They charged my battery to 97 percent and told me to pick up the truck. By the end of the day the charge had dropped to 37% while in their lot and I got a message on the app. Now they say they will change the battery but I suspect the same thing is going to happen as the parasitic draw is clearly not fixed. Ugh. They also said they wouldn't put in an AGM battery because Ford only allows a FLA replacement. What now??
Not true about Ford only replacing with FLA battery. After my 4th dead battery in just over 1 year, on my 22 Hybrid they agreed there was a system issue and gave me an AGM, no charge

Get your own battery. I had the same update but it only kept my truck from going to sleep for a couple days before returning to its immediate sleep after every drive. Ford batteries are 💩. 4 months with zero sleeps since getting this battery off Amazon. Yes, it fits despite what Amazon says.

I was told that they have to put in a FLA the first time and then if it fails they can request the AGM.

ok thx! I asked about that too and they said it would void any future warranty with this issue so I will likely take your suggestion after my 3 years is up. I'm over 2 years already.

Replacing a wear and tear item like a battery does not void a warranty. That's like saying if you go buy a battery from Costco that you won't be covered since you didn't buy a Ford battery. They just want you to buy a battery from them. Ignore that nonsense.

OK thx! I asked her if I could pay the difference to upgrade to an AGM and she said that if I ever took it to a different dealership with the same problem they wouldn't be able to help me. It is all confusing!

Whoever told you that at the dealership is a 🤡.
You can replace the battery with an AGM one from the Internet, Costco, Sam's Club or Walmart...ETC and NOT affect the warranty.

Neils,
Were you planning on installing the battery yourself ?

When the time comes to replace my battery. I plan on going with the much more expensive $189 H4 AGM Battery from Walmart that has a 4-year replacement warranty.

So, the hybrid is a big selling feature but is the most troublesome part of the truck. This would piss me off. Hopefully Ford will actually fix this.

Think 12v battery (vs. HVB only in the hybrid) .. like both the hybrid and the eco have.

Yes I would replace it myself. The only part I would have to figure out is how to reset the BMS after the replacement.

She is the warranty expert at the dealership.

To be clear.
If you replace your battery with a battery from Costco or Sam's and that battery goes bad. Ford is under no obligation to replace it even if your truck is still under full bumper to bumper warranty. Replacing with such does not negate your full vehicle warranty.

Give me a moment please..... this is going to be a long and involved post

Removing the battery clamp nut isn't the problem, but reinstalling it is.

I don't know if I will remove the plastic surround or order a 10 mm magnetic socket. I would think it's harder to get the battery hold down clamp in the proper position with the plastic surround on.

Then there is the process of making sure the new battery is charged 100% before doing the BMS relearn. This is something most places that install your battery probably will not do.
From the manual.

This is about as comprehensive a post as I can help you out with.
Good Luck.

Wow thank you now I know how to do it! And yes you are correct it just negates the warranty on any further battery replacements. I will wait to get my truck back from the dealer and if their fix fails then I will replace with the AGM with 4 year warranty. This is very helpful thanks.

Only thing that worries me is if that parasitic drain continues when the ignition is off and its higher than normal perhaps even the AGM will go flat.

You're absolutely correct.
Until Ford finds a REAL solution for the parasitic drain, it will continue to happen, no matter what battery is used.
I pulled fuse 11/12 the telemetrics fuse. Hoping to forestall some of the battery drain. I shouldn't have had to but it is what it is.

Yes I have heard of people pulling fuse 11 with some benefits. Just got a call that they have dropped a new battery in it and they will keep it till tomorrow. It is snowing up here in Canada and cold so it may be dead by the morning after sitting outside LOL.
