Tariffs are based on the "cost of goods sold" or the declared value of the imported goods at the point of import, not the final sales price. I don't blame any of this tariff mess on Ford or the dealerships. They didn't make the mess.If this becomes a permanent situation, Ford could drop the MAV back to introduction pricing, minimizing the tax hit at the border and let the customer and dealer work out the final price after tariffs and market adjustments.
It is one way to shift blame to the government and the dealers, and Ford could say they are trying to help the customer.
