Unwanted Driver Warning

Has anyone discovered a permanent defeat for the "Check Rear Seat . . ." display and bong when the engine is shut off?

You can disable this feature temporarily in the settings menu but I don't believe there is a permanent way to disable it. Every six months it will ask again as a reminder in case things in your life change like having a baby, getting a pet, or sell the vehicle to a new owner.

I thought this was going to be an alarm for when your mother-in-law needs a ride but can't help telling ya how to drive.....

On the real subject, mine must be broken, I turned it off two-years or more ago and it hasn't returned..

I believe it only goes off if you open and close the rear door before or during the driving cycle or if it senses anyone in the seat. I know that is how my Prius does it. I have a car seat buckled in the back, so I always get the warning on my maverick.

I'm not sure what model Maverick the OP has, but on my Lariat with the Sync 3, in setting there's a toggle to turn off the Rear Occupant Alert. Perhaps the XL and XLT's have this too?

It’s absolutely insane the amount of code, software , hardware , sensors and module interaction (engineering time)is put into an entry level truck !
Could have saved a couple hundred bucks off to not have this stuff!

Mine hasn’t alerted in over a year

You can turn it off for 6 months at a time in the settings. Mine didn't alert until I had the truck for 6 months, as the dealer must have turned it off during PDI. - They actually remembered to remove the shipping bracket from the driver underside behind the wheel....although they neglected to properly adjust the tire pressures, which were at ~43 at delivery. Their 'detail' was also a bit lacking, as spray detailer left horrible streaking until I applied a cleaning wax, which removed the remnants of the adhesive on the hood from the protective film used during shipping.
